In the era when legends like Sunil Dutt, Amitabh Bachchan, Rishi Kapoor were ruling the silver screens, there was an actor, who had made a name for himself and gave a run to all the superstars for their money. The man is none other than the late legendary actor, Vinod Khanna, who could charm his way into anyone's heart.

However, on April 27, 2017, Vinod Khanna had passed away following a prolonged sickness. However, there's no denying the fact that Vinod had never shied away from revealing his bold philosophies in front of the media. Recently, we stumbled upon an old and classy interview of Vinod Khanna from the time when he was really at the pomp of his illustrious career. In the rare clip, the iconic actor could be seen smoking a cigarette while sharing his views on the importance of sex in his life. While addressing his need for sex, the actor had clearly admitted that he is not a saint when it comes down to women. Explaining his point, Vinod Khanna had said, "Well, I was a bachelor, and I am no saint as far as women are concerned. I need sex as much as anybody else does. Without women we won't be here, without sex we won't be here, so why should anybody object to my being with women."

For the unversed, in 1971, Vinod Khanna got hitched to his childhood sweetheart, Geetanjali Taleyarkhan, and their wedding was attended by all the famous people of the film industry. Geetanjali and Vinod were blessed with a son, Rahul Khanna, in 1972 and another one, Akshay Khanna, in 1975. Vinod Khanna family’s life changed for the worst when he had decided to join Osho’s ashram, which forced Geetanjali to file for divorce.

After returning from Osho's ashram, it was on his 43rd birthday, Vinod Khanna had met a beautiful lady, Kavita Daftary and fell for her. Kavita was a shy and timid person who had thought that Vinod was just as pompous and proud as other actors. It had taken Vinod a lot of wooing before he could pursue her to go on a long drive with him. This long drive had changed Kavita’s perception of the actor. That’s how a new love story began. In May 1990, the couple had tied the knot and was soon blessed with a son, Sakshi and a daughter, Shraddha.

Coming back to his bold approach both in his personal and professional lives, when Madhuri Dixit was paired opposite Vinod Khanna by Firoz Khan in the film, Dayavan, everyone was left impressed, the way Vinod had acted opposite a young Madhuri despite their huge age gap. The veteran actor had not only proved the mettle of his acting skills but had also impressed everyone with his lovely chemistry with Madhuri. Even today, the kissing scene between Vinod and Madhuri is regarded as one of the most iconic moments in Hindi cinema.

While Vinod Khanna's professional career was nothing less than a fairytale dream for any aspiring actor of any generation for sure, sadly, his personal life wasn't so glamourous. Much credit goes to his surprising decision to bid farewell to his successful acting career when he had joined Osho's ashram in search of solace.

However, the ultimate sacrifice for his spiritual change was made by his family. In 2002, in an old interview, Vinod Khanna had admitted that he had always felt uneasy despite having wealth and fame. He had been searching for something.. unworldly which had led him to the ashram of Osho. However, he had returned after spending a few years in the US and had realised the importance of his family. On April 27, 2017, Vinod had passed away following a prolonged sickness. The reason for his death was bladder cancer, and the actor had died with his family around.
