Vinesh Phogat is one of the biggest wrestlers in Indian wrestling history. She was born on August 25, 1994, in Haryana's Charkhi Dadri to her parents, Rajpal Phogat, who was the brother of Mahavir Singh Phogat. As per reports, after the demise of Rajpal Phogat, it was Mahavir Phogat, who adopted Vinesh and trained her to become a wrestler just like his daughters, Geeta Phogat, Babita Phogat, Ritu Phogat, and Sangeeta Phogat.
For the unversed, Vinesh Phogat is the first Indian woman wrestler to win gold medals at two major international competitions, 2018 Commonwealth Games and 2018 Asian Games. For her incredible contribution to Indian wrestling in the last 10 years, Vinesh has been bestowed with the Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Award (2020), the Arjuna Award (2016), and the Padma Shri Award (2018).

Vinesh Phogat's run at the Paris 2024 Olympics came to a heartbreaking end on August 7, 2024, when she was disqualified due to the weight issue. As per the Economic Times, Vinesh Phogat's weight was reportedly 100 grams higher than the permissible weight limit in the 50 kg category. She was all set to fight against American wrestler, Sarah Hildebrandt for the gold medal. However, to everyone's heartbreak, Vinesh was disqualified from the competition, which ended her chance to become the first Indian wrestler to win a gold medal at the Olympics.
What's even more heartbreaking is the fact that she will not be eligible for the silver medal. Despite the unfortunate end to her Paris 2024 Olympic campaign, Vinesh Phogat deserves a lot of appreciation for reaching the final. The iconic Indian wrestler defeated the Olympic champion and Japan's legendary wrestler, Yui Susaki and Ukraine's powerhouse, Oksana Livach, to reach the semi-final stage.

In her crucial semi-final match, Vinesh Phogat thrashed Cuba's Yusneylys Guzman by a staggering margin of 5-0 to reach the finals. No doubt, the current and upcoming generations will remember and learn from Vinesh's explosive run at the Paris 2024 Olympics. Soon, after the news of Vinesh's disqualification from the Paris Olympics, a report in India Today revealed that Vinesh has been hospitalised due to severe dehydration. Apart from her professional front if we talk about her personal life, Vinesh is leading a happy married life with her husband, Somvir Rathee, who is also a wrestler by profession. The couple fell in love when they were working at Indian Railways.
After dating each other for some time, Vinesh and Somvir got married on December 14, 2018, in a low-key wedding ceremony. The couple has no kids as of now, as both of them are focused on their respective wrestling careers.

Talking about her income streams, Vinesh's biggest income stream is the salary she receives from the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.
The Indian wrestler gets a monthly salary of Rs. 50,000 from the Ministry, which means Vinesh's annual salary is Rs. 6 lakh. Apart from this, Vinesh Phogat is the brand ambassador of two major companies, Baseline Ventures and Cornerstone Sport, which also contributes heavily to her overall income.

Talking about Vinesh Phogat's most prized possessions, she owns a luxurious villa in Haryana, priced roughly in crores. Although not much information about the property is in the public domain, but as per multiple reports, Vinesh has spent a staggering amount of money on purchasing and renovating the villa.
Apart from this, she also owns three expensive cars, Toyota Fortuner (Rs. 35 lakhs) and Toyota Innova (Rs. 28 lakhs). The third car parked in her garage is the Mercedes-Benz GLE, whose estimated price is around the whopping sum of Rs. 1.8 crore.
