Vidya Balan is one of the most stunning and talented actresses in Bollywood. She has proven her mettle in acting by working in blockbuster films like The Dirty Picture, Kahaani, Bhool Bhulaiyaa, Mission Mangal, Parineeta, Jalsa, Lage Raho Munna Bhai, Sherni and many more. She is, undoubtedly, a true definition of beauty and grace, and she rules over millions of hearts with her humble personality. Talking about her personal life, Vidya tied the knot with the MD and Founder of Roy Kapur Films, Siddharth Roy Kapur.
In the latest interview with lifestyle coach, Luke Coutinho, Vidya Balan opened up about body positivity. Talking about the same, the actress revealed the body image issues that she suffered as a child and how her mother made her follow a strict diet early on in life. Vidya stated that her mother was afraid that she would be judged for being chubby, so she would do things to make her lose weight. The actress added that her mother grew up to be chubby, so she didn't want the former to be judged just like her. In her words:
"My mother had this fear that I was a chubby girl. So she was constantly doing things to make me lose weight because she grew up a big girl. She was scared about the fact that I would be judged like her."

Further, in the same conversation, Vidya mentioned that she used to be angry with her mother for making her follow an exercise regime and diet early on in her life. The actress added that her mother's concern actually impacted her relationship with her own body. Mentioning how she developed hormonal issues early in life, Vidya said:
"I used to be very angry with my mother, 'Why does she make me go through the exercise regime? Why is she making me diet so early? Maybe it's because she was worried for me. I grew up hating my body. I had developed hormonal issues very early on in my life because it was the rejection of the body."
Vidya also talked about her self-acceptance journey and stated that it took a lot of effort to reach the stage where she is happy with her body. She added that people think that she doesn't exercise, but, on the contrary, she loves to do it and is very consistent about it. Vidya mentioned that she has put in all the effort to gain that quintessential heroine body, but she doesn't have one, and now she has accepted that. In her words:
"It's taken me a lot of work to reach this stage. People always come and tell me, 'You must not be exercising.' And only if they knew that I love exercise and I am consistent at it because I love it. But for whatever reason, I don't have the quintessential heroine body. I have been through a time where I have put in all the effort and I have not seen the result. The journey of acceptance started around the time I was maybe 30-31 and it's only been getting better."
