Making her debut with 1995 sitcom, Hum Paanch and Hindi film debut with Parineeta, Vidya Balan became one of the inspiring Bollywood actresses, who had contributed to the cinema with some brilliant female-centric films. Even off-screen, Vidya never steps back from calling spade a spade and her views on important topics like misogyny, gender equality, hypocrisy and sexism in the industry.

Vidya Balan married Siddharth Roy Kapur, an eminent film producer, founder and MD of Roy Kapur Films and the President of the Producers Guild of India. Siddharth was the former Managing Director of the Walt Disney Company India and UTV – Studios. Siddharth and Vidya had first met at the Filmfare Awards ceremony and instantly clicked with each other. The sets of No One Killed Jessica was the time when love blossomed between the couple.
Vidya Balan, who is promoting her upcoming film, Sherni, hosted an 'Ask Me Anything' session on Instagram and answered a few questions asked by her fans. Vidya received a marriage proposal for her brother-in-law, Aditya Roy Kapur. To which, she posted a collage of clips with the song in the background, Didi Tera Devar Deewana from the film, Hum Aapke Hain Koun..!
When asked if she is committed, Vidya Balan posted a picture with her husband, Siddharth Roy Kapur and replied, "Lagta toh aisa hee hai!" Given the option to choose between Salman Khan and SRK (Shah Rukh Khan), Vidya picked, "My SRK" (Siddharth Roy Kapur) followed by a heart emoji. Vidya also posted her favourite picture with devar, Aditya Roy Kapur.

Vidya Balan and Siddharth Roy Kapur had tied the knot on December 14, 2012, and their wedding was a mix of two traditions as the former is a Tamilian and the latter is a Punjabi. Vidya and Siddharth had posed for the paparazzi after their wedding. While Vidya had opted for a red saree, temple jewellery, minimal makeup and mehendi, Siddharth had complemented her in a yellow embroidered kurta and the newly-weds had flashed their bright ear-to-ear grins.
In a 2018 interview with the DNA, Vidya Balan was asked if Siddharth Roy Kapur has ever cooked for her. Vidya had revealed that when they had started seeing each other, he had cooked scrambled eggs for her. Despite being a vegetarian, Vidya had tasted the eggs and complimented him for his cooking. Recalling the same, Vidya had said, "I wanted to tell him that I’m a vegetarian but at that time, you’re obviously trying to impress the other person. So I tasted it and said yum! But actually, I can’t have eggs."
In an interview with ETimes, Vidya Balan had spoken about what she has learnt in her eight years of marriage with Siddharth Roy Kapur. She had said, "What I have discovered in these eight years is that the work involved is the effort not to take the other person for granted, and therefore it’s been joyous. If you slip up there, it’s not as exciting, just becomes mundane. I love the work that is required to be put in to keep the marriage strong and exciting."
