Victoria Beckham Was Criticised For Having C Sections, She Slammed The Headline 'Too Posh To Push'

Victoria Beckham is leading the headlines after her son, Brooklyn Beckham, made serious allegations against her. It so happened that David Beckham and Victoria Beckham’s eldest son, Brooklyn, recently released an explosive six-page statement on Instagram, accusing his parents, David and Victoria Beckham, of long-term manipulation and attempts to sabotage his marriage. 

After Brooklyn’s explosive allegations, many reports about the family began appearing in the media. Amid the rising tension in the Beckham household, let’s look back at another controversy of Victoria Beckham, which led to a widespread debate. The controversy in question dates back to 1999 when the diva chose to have an elective C-section during the birth of her firstborn, Brooklyn.

Victoria Beckham was criticised for choosing a C-section delivery

We have often heard the term, ‘too posh to push’. But do you know from where the phrase actually originated? Well, in 1999, Victoria Beckham (Posh Spice) was pregnant with her first child, Brooklyn Beckham. Victoria went for a C-Section delivery during the birth of Brooklyn, and it led to massive controversy. The British press at that time printed that Victoria was ‘too posh to push’.

Why did Victoria Beckham choose to have a C-Section?

Delivering a baby is one of the most emotional, at the same time taxing moments for a woman. Therefore, the choice to have a normal delivery or a C-Section should be made by the woman. However, in Victoria’s case, Brooklyn was breech and in a breech position, the baby’s bottom or feet first in the womb. This happens in very few cases, and it often complicates vaginal delivery.

Doctors had advised Victoria to have a C-Section delivery as a normal delivery would have complicated the birth. However, the media bashed Victoria for opting for a C-Section and labelled her as too rich and privileged and too posh to push the baby out via a normal delivery. Following the public backlash, Victoria gave birth to three more children—sons Romeo and Cruz and daughter Harper, all by C-section.

Victoria Beckham slammed the media for ‘too posh to push’ headlines

During the 2023 Netflix documentary, Victoria addressed the ‘too posh to push’ headlines for the first time. The designer revealed that it was not her choice to have a C-Section and said:

“In the end, they told me that I had to have a Caesarean section. I wasn't too posh to push, I was told it would not be safe for me to be put into labor."

All about the Beckham family’s feud

On January 19, 2026, Brooklyn released a six-page statement on Instagram, accusing his parents, David and Victoria Beckham, of long-term manipulation and attempts to sabotage his marriage. He alleged that they hurled "endless attacks" and spread "lies" about him and his wife, Nicola Peltz Beckham. 

Victoria Beckham cancelled making Nicola Peltz's wedding dress

Rumours of a feud in the Beckham household began after Brooklyn’s wedding to Nicola. In his statement, Brooklyn revealed that his mom, Victoria, cancelled making Nicola's wedding dress at the last minute, which caused significant inconvenience for his wife. Brooklyn also revealed that Nicola was excited to wear the dress designed by Victoria; however, at the last moment, she had to change to find an alternative, which proved difficult for her.

Brooklyn Beckham accused Victoria of humiliating him at his wedding

In his 6-page-long statement, Brooklyn Beckham revealed that his mom, Victoria Beckham, hijacked his first dance with Nicola Peltz. The couple had planned their first dance and rehearsed for weeks before the wedding. It so happened that Nicola and Brooklyn were thrilled about their first dance after their wedding ceremony, and Marc Anthony offered to perform for the couple.

However, as the song began, he invited Brooklyn, and instead of calling out Nicola’s name, he called out Victoria’s. It was an awkward moment for all the guests present. On the other hand, Nicola felt that the most special moment of her wedding was ruined by her mother-in-law, Victoria. In his statement, Brooklyn also mentioned that he felt humiliated by his mother's inappropriate dance in front of 500 guests.

According to eyewitnesses, Victoria wrapped her hands around her son and nuzzled his neck. According to the source, Victoria was dancing inappropriately, and she actually stole the moment from Nicola, who was teary-eyed. A source told Page Six:

"Victoria got up on stage and wrapped her arms around Brooklyn, and nuzzled into his neck. She was dancing with him very inappropriately. She took that moment from Nicola, that is the God’s truth."

As the Beckham family is in the centre of controversies, neither Victoria nor David has reacted to Brooklyn’s accusations yet. This is not the first time the celebrity couple has been embroiled in controversy, and they have only reacted when necessary.
