'Varanasi' Movie Cast Fees: Priyanka Chopra Charges Rs 30 Cr, Mahesh Babu Takes Zero Salary?

Filmmaker, SS Rajamouli for the first time has joined hands with Mahesh Babu for his next megastar movie, titled, Varanasi. The grand trailer launch event took place at Hyderabad's Ramoji Film City, where the movie's title was announced. Apart from Mahesh Babu, the lead cast of the movie also includes Priyanka Chopra and Prithviraj Sukumaran. Well, Priyanka is returning to the big screen with Varanasi, and fans are now excited to know the fees the cast has been paid.

Priyanka Chopra paid a staggering amount of Rs. 30 crore for Varanasi?

Priyanka Chopra, for the first time, will be collaborating with filmmaker SS Rajamouli for Varanasi. It was earlier titled as SSMB29. According to a report by KoiMoi, Priyanka has requested Rs. 30 crore as her paycheque for the film. This has made the actress as one of the highest paid stars that any director has collaborated. The report also claimed that Priyanka had increased her fees. Alia Bhatt in SS Rajamouli's RRR had charged Rs. 9 crore, while Anushka Shetty in Baahubali had charged Rs. 5 crore. Priyanka reportedly will be overtaking Deepika Padukone, who has been the highest-paid actress.

Mahesh Babu to take zero salary for Varanasi?

According to the report and a source close to Koimoi, Mahesh Babu, along with the filmmaker, SS Rajamouli, will not be taking the usual salary. Rajamouli has a lot of faith in Mahesh Babu's craft that led him to stardom. For this reason, both of them have decided not to pay high fees. Their idea is to create a legacy with Varanasi. Hence, Mahesh Babu and SS Rajamouli reportedly will be taking a 40% profit-sharing deal, along with the producers. The report clearly stated that Mahesh Babu will take no salary and has negotiated a shared profit agreement with SS Rajamouli. It clearly means that Mahesh Babu's salary for Varanasi will depend entirely on the film's profit.

How much is Prithviraj Sukumaran charging?

There have not been any reports related to the fees taken by South star, Prithviraj Sukumaran. Although Priyanka Chopra, a global icon, has worldwide star power, her high fees may not do justice to her global fans. It is interesting to note that neither the makers nor the stars of the film have confirmed on the salary amount that they will be getting.

Varanasi movie made on a budget of Rs 100 crores?

Mahesh Babu, Priyanka Chopra, and Prithviraj Sukumar's Varanasi, according to the report, has been made on a budget of Rs. 100 crores. The film is expected to surpass Ranbir Kapoor's Ramayan and may be one of the most expensive movies being made in India. A source close to the publication revealed details shared:

"SS Rajamouli has kept his word of making films for producers D. V. V. Danayya & Narayana K.L. which was committed when he took signing amounts before the release of Baahubali. He chose to keep his commitment & not return the money which was an easier option. After SSMB 29, he will be a solo producer for all his films and directly partner with studios.”

The teaser for Varanasi begins with clips of Varanasi in 512 CE. The saints are seen performing yagna, and at one end, Lord Hanuman is seen burning Ravan's abode: Lanka. Enters, Mahesh Babu in a blood-soaked shirt, with a trishul in his hand, riding on a bull.
