Young Thug dropped a new album, UY Scuti, on September 26, 2025, following his release from prison in October 2024. The album is his first full-length project since his time in jail, which concluded with a plea deal. The album is named after one of the largest stars in the Milky Way, UY Scuti. It draws a parallel to the artist's attempt to earn back his reputation in the music industry. Besides Young Thug's post-detention comeback, the new album is drawing attention for its lyrics, which serve as an apology note to his ex-girlfriend, Mariah the Scientist, and some of his industry acquaintances.
American rapper, Young Thug (born Jeffery Lamar Williams II), used his new album, UY Scuti as a means to make his remorse regarding his latest actions reach his fans and his once-closest people. He sang his truth in the 20-track project and used the lyrics of Miss My Dogs to apologise to his girlfriend, Mariah the Scientist. This public apology followed an early September 2025 leak of his recorded jail conversations, where he admitted to cheating on Mariah and lying to her about it. The lines which addressed the infidelity scandal could be read as:
"Baby, I'm sorry/ One of my biggest fears is losin' you to the internet/Wakin' up in our bed with you right by my neck...Pillow talkin' ain't my name/ Baby, I love you, I know you see this rain/ I know you feel my pain."
Besides letting Mariah and the world know about how remorseful he was for his infidelity, Young Thug also got her to feature in his album, Uy Scuti. Mariah the Scientist lent her voice to two songs on Young Thug's latest album, Invest Into You and Dreams Rarely Do Come True. The tracks offer different perspectives on the couple's relationship, addressing both devotion and the rapper's cheating scandal. Invest Into You expresses their mutual affection and commitment, with Mariah singing, "I love you like I never loved before."
It hints at a period of vulnerability and reconciliation after a difficult time, possibly during Young Thug's legal issues. Dreams Rarely Do Come True is a much darker, with Mariah opening the song with a vulnerable, honey-hued vocal performance. Mariah's lyrics allude to feelings of betrayal, possibly in response to the leaked jail phone calls that included her ex-boyfriend, Young Thug's cheating allegations. In the second half of the song, Young Thug shifts the tone with a beat switch and directly addresses the alleged infidelity.
The Young Thug jail scandal involves a series of leaked audio recordings from his time in a Fulton County Jail from 2022 to 2024, which revealed disparaging comments he made about other rappers and his personal relationships. The leaks caused significant controversy and damaged several relationships in the hip-hop community. He admitted to cheating on his partner, Mariah the Scientist, in May 2022, called GloRilla 'ugly' and mocked artists like Kendrick Lamar, Future, Gunna, and Baby Keem.

He criticised Future for not doing enough to help the Go Crazy singer while he was jailed, and accused him of being more interested in women than his own children. Young Thug also alleged that he bought streams to help Gunna's album succeed and slammed Drake's treatment of Metro Boomin following his mother's death. Through his latest album, Young Thug apologised to all these artists, probably attempting to mend his relations with them.
