The glamour world looks like a happy-go-lucky place to be. Everything about B-town looks like a fairytale, from the celeb's relationships to their parenthood journey. However, not everyone gets the perfect end to their story. One such Bollywood couple is late filmmaker, Sawan Kumar Tak and legendary music director, Usha Khanna. Their love story started with friendship and ended with a divorce.
For the unversed, the legendary filmmaker, Sawan Kumar Tak passed away on August 25, 2022, at the age of 86 due to heart failure. At the time of his death, his ex-wife, Usha Khanna did not speak much. However, now the veteran music director opened up about her love story and separation from the late Sawan Kumar Tak.

In an interview with ETimes, music director, Usha Khanna opened up about her relationship with the late filmmaker, Sawan Kumar Tak. Talking about her first meeting with her ex-husband, Usha revealed that they had developed an instant connection. Elaborating on the same, she said:
"I was doing the music of a film where Saawan Kumar ji had dropped by, he was writing its songs. We developed almost an instant rapport. He soon signed me up for his upcoming directorial Hawas. Along the way, our friendship blossomed into love."
Further, in the same interview, Usha Khanna even talked about why she got separated from Sawan Kumar Tak. She shared that they ended their 7 year-long courtship because the understanding between them had faded away. Talking about the same, she said:
"It happens. After a few years, you start disliking certain things about the person you are with. Better to part ways and live separately than constantly quarrel. I can't talk bad about someone I loved. But we couldn't get along. The understanding started waning. We decided, aap apni jagah, main apni jagah- but let's remain as friends. Today, I am missing a friend. Jo understanding hamari friendship mein thi, woh shaadi ke rishtey mein nahin hui."

When asked whether Sawan Kumar Tak had his share of romantic relationships even after marriage in the same interview, Usha said he was friendly with girls and this was also one reason they separated. She even shared that as a wife, it affected her and so, she had decided to stay away from his personal life. Elaborating on the same, she said:
"Yes, huye the. I said that we should stay separately and I wouldn't disturb him thereafter. Dekhiye, dukh toh hota tha, after all, we were man and wife. Bas, maine kaha, aap apni jagah rahiye aur main apni jagah rehti hoon. I didn't want to pile on him and keep fighting. relationships are like glass. A crack had formed. But I didn't let it rule over me and get the better of me."
Earlier in an interview with ETimes, Usha Khanna had opened up about Sawan Kumar Tak's death and losing a dear friend. She had shared that the late filmmaker was more of a friend than a husband. Elaborating on the same, Usha had said:
"Saawan Ji was a very dear friend of mine. I've lost him today. What can I say about that. He was a very dear friend. In fact, even in our marriage, I always felt he was more of a friend than my husband. That's why it hurts me even more that I've lost my dear friend."
On the professional front, Usha Khanna last composed the music of the late Sawan Kumar Tak's film, Dil Pardesi Ho Gaya.
