Urvashi Rautela Gets Dropped From 'Daaku Maharaaj' Poster, Netizens Say, 'Phata Poster Nikli 1st..'

Urvashi Rautela and Nandamuri Balakrishna's film, Daaku Maharaaj will soon be released on the OTT platform, Netflix, after being a massive box-office success. However, it was not the release announcement that caught the fans' attention. It was the film lead, Urvashi Rautela's absence from the announcement poster, that stirred the pot.

It was on February 16, 2025, that Netflix posted the promotional poster of the film Daaku Maharaj on their Instagram, revealing the film's OTT release date. However, while the poster still featured Balakrishna, Bobby Deol, Pragya Jaiswal, and Shraddha Srinath, Urvashi Rautela was not on it. Netflix shared the post with the caption:

"We would just like to say pranaam maharaj. Watch Daaku Maharaaj, out on 21 Feb on Netflix!" 

Netizens react to the change in poster

As soon as Netflix shared the poster, netizens were quick to notice that Urvashi Rautela was missing. They quickly chimed in to share their opinions on the changes. One user wrote, "India's first woman to be removed from the poster of a 105+ cr film." Another wrote, "Lmaoo, the best promoter of the movie isn't even on the poster."  A social media user took a humorous jab at the actress' absence and stated, "I can see Urvashi peeping from behind those rocks."

However, that is not all; the poster soon made it to the discussion platform Reddit, and some users were not happy that Uravshi had been removed from the poster. One user stated, "To be honest, I know of the movie because of her constant yapping everywhere about how it did 105 cr and how she beat Kiara n ramcharan. So a D... move basically to kick her off the poster when the hype point itself was her being spanked." Another user wrote, "How shocking would it be if she came out with her own poster for the movie with just her on the poster??!?!" A Redditor penned, "Phata Poster Nikli First Ever Heroine!" A user in a long post wrote:

"How heartless people are. They don't know the value of a queen....I mean, I literally know of Daku Maharaj because of her. If she hadn't gone around promoting #DaakuMaharajOneHundredFiveCrores...who would've even known about it? It's so unfair what's happening to the Queen."

For the uninitiated, it was Urvashi Rautela who had been making the headlines for her promotional tactic ever since the film was released. However, during an interview with ANI, Urvashi made a comment on Saif Ali Khan's attack, which came off as tone-deaf, given the gravity of the situation. When asked about the incident where Saif Ali Khan was stabbed, Urvashi was quoted saying:

"It is very unfortunate. Now, Daaku Maharaaj has crossed Rs. 105 crore at the box office, and my mother gifted me this diamond-studded Rolex. In contrast, my father gifted me this mini watch on my finger, but we don’t feel confident wearing it outside openly. There is this insecurity that anybody can attack us. Whatever happened was very unfortunate."
