Urvashi Rautela is an actress and a titleholder at several beauty pageants. Known for her winning streak at beauty pageants, Urvashi made her pageant debut with Miss Teen India 2009. She moved on to win several other contests, including Miss Asia Supermodel 2011, Indian Princess 2011, Miss Tourism Of The Year International 2011, I Am She-Miss Universe India 2012 and Miss Diva 2015. She has also been a common face at the Cannes Film Festival. However, this year, it seems like luck is not in her favour.

Urvashi Rautela once again has the internet in a chokehold. The actress is currently marking her presence at the 78th Cannes Film Festival with several extravagant outfits, one after the other. While there is no denying that Urvashi knows how to grab everyone's attention, this year's Cannes has brought her into the limelight for not all the good reasons. The actress has had a series of fails, from being stuck in the door, to raising eyebrows with her parrot-esque ensemble.

However, things blew off the roof when Urvashi Rautela appeared at the grand event on May 18, 2025, in an all-black textured gown for the O Agente Secreto red carpet. However, it was not her stunning dress that caught everyone's attention, it was a small but very evident tear by  Urvashi's arm, which had left the internet divided. While some believe that it was an accident, others are adamant that the malfunction was intentional. 

Netizens react to Urvashi Rautela's wardrobe malfunction

Soon, the video of the mishap was shared on the discussion platform, Reddit, and users started to chime in to share their opinions on the same. A user penned, "First Indian to have a torn dress at Cannes?" Another wrote, "She is having a string of bad luck. First, her dress got stuck in the revolving door, and then she ended up on the carpet looking like a parrot, carrying a parrot. Now, she turned up in a torn dress. First Indian actress to suffer a series of bad luck in Cannes ." A comment read, "First actress who has represented India by wearing a torn dress." Another commenter said, "Why is her hair always styled like she's still at Miss Universe competition from the 2000s? Never sleek or simple styling and always 'crown-ready' pouffes."

Some users, on the other hand, found the array of events suspicious. A user penned, "The first time she looks semi-good at Cannes, and this happens. Poor girl." A comment read, "
She’s very capable of doing this just so as to get more coverage." A user wrote, "At this point, I feel she’s either wantedly doing weird things for attention or someone’s setting her up so bad." While some called the malfunction 'real' and stated, "Someone's getting fired." A user was quoted as saying, "Ok.. someone is going to get fired. I mean.. he/she had one job and messed it up big time", to quote a few.

Urvashi Rautela wore an asymmetrical tube gown in a dark green hue with colourful detailing. Apart from her gown, Urvashi took her look up a notch with a colourful tiara, which featured colourful gemstones and a matching pair of earrings. She paired the look with a designer crystal parrot clutch from the label, Judith Liber, which comes at a massive price tag of Rs. 4,57,744. Nonetheless, it failed to impress the netizens.
