Urmila Matondkar met model-turned actor, Mohsin Akhtar at Manish Malhotra's niece, Riddhi Malhotra's wedding in 2014. They became friends and soon fell in love with each other. Mohsin, who is a Kashmiri model, moved to Mumbai to try his luck in Bollywood. He made his silver screen debut in the film, It's A Man's World in 2009 and then went on to do projects like Luck By Chance, Mumbai Mast Kallander, and B.A. Pass. 

Despite an age gap of 10 years, Urmila and Mohsin got married in an intimate wedding on March 3, 2016, at her residence in Mumbai. They first had a Hindu wedding, followed by an intimate nikah ceremony.

Urmila Matondkar and Mohsin Akhtar’s divorce rumours

In 2024, there were rumours of alleged tension between Urmila Matondkar and Mohsin Akhtar. The actress had reportedly filed for divorce, and it was also stated that the divorce was not happening as per mutual consent. She also unfollowed Mohsin on social media and stopped posting pictures with him. A source close to the actress told Hindustan Times:

“After careful consideration, Urmila has decided to call it quits on her marriage with Mohsin. She has already filed for divorce in court. While the reason behind the separation is still not known, the divorce isn’t happening on mutual terms.”
