Actresses can never be friends. Often when more than one actress is featured in a film, they end up fighting or giving cold shoulder to one another. There are very rare chances of two leading ladies being cordial on the sets and bonding like BFFs. In the filmy world, where competition is at its peak, catfights and arguments become a normal thing.
While some actresses are quite open about their spat, some like to keep it private. From launching verbal attacks to calling each other by names, these Bollywood divas have not shied away from showing their hatred towards each other. Be it alleged ex-boyfriends, body shaming, or the length of a role in a particular film, here's a list of some Bollywood beauties and their famous catfights, that became the headlines.
Kareena Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra had shared screen space in the movie, Aitraaz. Even after being the protagonist of the film, Kareena's role was overshadowed by the negative character played by Priyanka Chopra. During one of the episodes of Koffee With Karan, Kareena had made a nasty remark on Priyanka and had asked the host, "I wonder where Priyanka got her accent from?"
When Priyanka was called on the show, she had given a befitting reply and had said, "I got it from the same place her boyfriend (Kareena was then dating Saif Ali Khan) got it from." However, both the actresses are now cordial to each other.
Karisma Kapoor and Raveena Tandon had worked together in the cult movie, Andaaz Apna Apna and their onscreen bond was loved by everyone. However, during the shooting of another film, Aatish, where they had starred together, both Karisma and Raveena were at loggerheads. Director Farah Khan had once revealed how the two used to make fun of each other, hitting each other with their wigs.

In her words, "They were wearing these wigs with plaits and beads in it. One was hitting, the other was stamping her foot with her heel. It was quite childish. I am sure they will laugh about it now." However, the two have patched up now.

The anonymity between Sonam Kapoor Ahuja and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan began when Sonam became the face of L'Oreal and Aishwarya reportedly refused to walk the red carpet with her at Cannes. Irked by this, Sonam called Aishwarya 'aunty' in one of her interviews and also claimed that Aishwarya applied a purple lipstick at Cannes to get attention.
Bipasha Basu and Kareena Kapoor Khan's spat had begun on the sets of their film, Ajnabee in 2001. It was reported that Kareena's designer went on to help Bipasha Basu without the former's consent and a huge fight had broken out after that. It was also reported that the spat had gone so ugly that Kareena had allegedly slapped Bipasha, calling her 'Kaali Billi'. On the other hand, Bipasha had called Kareena's behaviour 'childish' and had said that she never wants to work with her again.
Sridevi and Jaya Prada were rivals from the beginning of their careers. Because of the competition to be at the top of the industry, a friendship could never happen between them. Once during the shooting of their film, Maqsad, Jeetendra and Rajesh Khanna had locked Sridevi and Jaya in a room thinking that the two would reconcile their differences. However, when the door was opened after an hour, Jaya and Sridevi were in two different corners, looking away from each other.
Sonam Kapoor and Deepika Padukone had begun their careers in the same year. Deepika's Om Shanti Om was a hit, while Sonam's Saawariya tanked at the box office. Sonam also reportedly said that actresses should not reveal details of films they haven't signed, pointing towards Deepika.
Sonam also accused Deepika's PR agency of spreading false stories about her. It is also speculated that actor, Ranbir Kapoor had broken up with Sonam to date Deepika, which was the major reason for their spat. However, the actresses are cordial towards each other now.
Jaya Bachchan and Rekha's rivalry is known to all. And the main reason behind their spat is the veteran actor, Amitabh Bachchan. After three years of Amitabh and Jaya's wedding, rumours about his affair with his co-star, Rekha had started doing the rounds in the media, impacting his relationship with Jaya.
Their controversial affair is still one of the most talked-about subjects and Rekha has permanently become 'the other woman' in Amitabh and Jaya's life. Every section in the media had a story of how she became the reason for rifts between Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan.

Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma were not as cordial as they are now. Their cold war had started when Katrina's makeup artist flew to London with Anushka Sharma for a shoot. This had made Katrina upset and she had threatened to halt the shoot of their film, Mere Brother Ki Dulhan as she wanted her makeup artist. Due to this, Anushka had flown to London without a makeup man. However, both the actresses have sorted out their differences and were seen sharing the screen space in the movie, Zero.
In an award function, which both Katrina and Priyanka had graced, both the leading ladies wanted to be the showstopper. However, Priyanka had dropped her name and had let Katrina be the showstopper. However, later, Katrina had stated that she was the first choice to be the showstopper, which had irked Priyanka.
The reason for Aishwarya Rai and Rani Mukerji's split is reported to be Abhishek Bachchan. During the shooting of Bunty Aur Babli, it was speculated that Rani and Abhishek were dating each other. After Rani and Abhishek reportedly broke up, Abhishek had proposed Aishwarya. It is said that Aishwarya had asked Abhishek not to work with Rani. In fact, despite sharing a great relationship with the Bachchan clan, Rani was not invited to Abhishek and Aishwarya's wedding.
Esha Deol and Amrita Rao had a major tiff on the sets of their film, Pyare Mohan. It was reported that Amrita had said something nasty about Esha, who lost her cool and in a fit-of-rage had slapped the Vivaah actress. Later, Esha had confessed to slapping her and had accused Amrita of instigating her.
Zeenat and Parveen had been the leading actresses of their time and had always competed with one another. Their competitiveness had led to their rivalry. It is reported that the two had always wanted to work with the same actors and directors out of competition.
The ugly spat between Chitrangada and Poonam Pandey had begun when Poonam had stated that she would strip if India wins the World Cup 2019. To this Chitrangada had tweeted that Poonam could even strip for Kabbadi matches. This didn't go too well with Poonam, who had accused Chitrangada of using her name for publicity.
Zoya Afroz and Sonali Raut's catfight scene in the film, The Xpose had turned real when Zoya had slapped Sonali during the promotions of the film. It is reported that before shooting for the promotional episode on The Kapil Sharma Show, Sonali had asked Zoya to behave well in front of everyone, else she would slap her. Hearing Sonali's words, Zoya had lost her cool and had given a tight slap to Sonali.
Juhi Chawla and Madhuri Dixit were the top heroines of the '90s and were competitors too. It is reported that Juhi had once stated that she had rejected many big films, which were eventually done by other actresses, Madhuri being one of them. Juhi had also stated that many films were offered to her with Madhuri but she didn't want to work with her.
It doesn't matter whether a movie was a blockbuster hit or flop but the catfights between Bollywood divas always make it to the headlines. Even after all the verbal attacks and abuses, they still manage to smile in front of the cameras as if they are nothing but best friends.
