Udit Narayan Reacts To The Viral Clip Of Him Kissing Female Fan On The Lips Amid Backlash

Udit Narayan is facing the wrath of the netizens after a video of him kissing several female fans during a live performance went viral. According to videos circulating on social media, Udit Narayan was performing Tip Tip Barsa Paani when numerous of his female fans gathered near the stage to take selfies with him. One of his female fans turned around and kissed the singer on the cheek. However, things took a drastic turn when the singer returned the gesture by kissing her on her lips.

While this was shocking enough, another woman attempted to give Udit Narayan a kiss and a hug. However, this time, the singer gave her a kiss on the cheek. Soon after, the singer was seen kissing yet another woman on the lips while the crowd cheered, and the women kept lining up to take selfies with the singer. For the uninitiated, the clips are undated, and it is not yet clear when the incident occurred.

Nonetheless, this gesture by the singer did not sit well with the netizens. Since the video went viral, the singer has been heavily trolled. One person wrote, "Tell me it’s AI. Tell me it is!! What a nightmare. Beyond the boundaries of disgust." While another wrote, "A singer of his stature should be super conscious of his deeds in public." Another X user penned, "Udit Narayan…no way… I hope this is AI… if not… the whole legacy is completely destroyed…" A commenter also pointed out how the cheering crowd was making the scenario even worse and wrote, "The crowd cheering is making it worse."

Udit Narayan reacts to the backlash

Udit Narayan responded to the backlash during an interview with HT City. When the publication asked the singer to comment on the ongoing backlash, he shared that fans can be extremely passionate, but he is not like that. He called himself a decent person and asserted that there was no point in making a big deal about the incident. He stated: 

"Some people encourage this and show their love through this. Udaake kya karna hai ab iss cheez ko? There are so many people in the crowd, and we have bodyguards present too. But fans think they are getting a chance to meet, so someone extends their hands for a handshake, some kiss the hands...yeh sab deewangi hoti hai. Uspe itna dhyaan nahi dena chahiye. I have been in Bollywood for 46 years now, my image hasn't been such (that I forcefully kiss fans) In fact, I fold my hands when I see the love my fans shower on me, while on stage, I bow down, thinking phir aaj ka yeh waqt laut ke aaye na aaye"

Udit Narayan claims there might be ulterior motives to ruin his image behind the viral video

In the same conversation, Udit Narayan suggested that there might be an ulterior motive behind the controversy. He shared that everyone wants some controversy to happen. He also added that when he is on stage, his sole focus is on making sure his fans are happy. He stated: 

"My family's image is such that everyone wants (a controversy to happen) Aditya chup chaap rehta hai, controversy mein aata nahi hai. Many must feel that. There is madness when I am singing on stage, fans love me, I think let them be happy. Otherwise iss type ke log hum hain hi nahi. Humein bhi unko khush karna hota hai."
