Udit Narayan ruled the 90s with his soulful voice, which played a big role in the success of various films and actors. He sang songs in multiple languages and shared a cordial bond with his contemporaries. Although Udit Narayan has mostly stayed away from controversies, he has recently made headlines after a video of him kissing one of his female fans on her lips went viral. Netizens criticised the singer and called his behaviour 'inappropriate', but he brushed it off, saying it was just the craze of his fans. In a recent interview, Udit Narayan has opened up about the hate coming his way.
Udit Narayan sat down for a conversation with Bollywood Hungama and opened up about the criticism coming his way after the video of him kissing a female fan went viral. He explained that he is at a stage in his career where he has achieved it all. Consequently, he won't won't do anything wrong. The Pehla Nasha singer added that he doesn't feel he has done anything scandalous. In his words:
"What you saw in the so-called scandalous video was a manifestation of the love between my fans and I. They love me. I love them back even more."
When asked about his regrets about the incident, Udit Narayan directly mentioned that he has no regrets about his actions or words. Rather, all these happenings and reactions have made him laugh. Moreover, the singer took a dig at those calling him out on the viral video and stated that he felt sorry for them. At the same time, he expressed his gratitude towards them for making him famous. He was quoted as saying:
"It is not something sleazy or secret. It is there in the public domain. My heart is pure. If some people want to see something dirty in my act of pure affection, then I feel sorry for them. I also want to thank them. Because now they've made me even more famous than I already was."
In the same interview, Udit Narayan shared his future career goals. He mentioned that he has been honoured with several important awards by the Hindi film industry and the country. However, he now wants to win Bharat Ratna, the most prestigious award given by the Indian government, like his idol and legendary singer, Lata Mangeshkar. Udit Narayan also noted that he feels there is something suspicious behind the video of him kissing a fan going viral after months. But he would continue to thrive.
Udit Narayan made his singing debut with the song, Mil Gaya Mil Gaya, from the 1980 film, Unees Bees. Rajesh Roshan introduced him in the industry and Udit went on to sing popular songs like Udja Kale Kawan, Sonam Kitna Sona Hai, Laal Dupatta, Jaadu Teri Nazar, Pehla Nasha and more. The singer has a career spanning more than four decades and last lent his voice to sing a reprise version of his iconic song, Papa Kehte Hain, for Rajkummar Rao starrer Srikanth.
