Charlie Kirk's assassination shocked the entire world. He was the closest ally of the US president, Donald Trump. After two days, the first suspect in the case has been under custody. He is a 22-year-old student, Tyler Robinson, and he was busted by none other than his own father, Matt Robinson. Read on to know what we know!
Tyler Robinson is a 22-year-old from Utah, located in the western part of the US. Tyler was identified as the shooting suspect who killed Charlie Kirk, who was at Utah Valley University for a discussion. The boy was identified after President Donald Trump announced that the suspect had been caught.
For the uninitiated, Tyler Robinson, who was in hiding, was apprehended by the police after his father, Matt Robinson, assisted the authorities. President Donald Trump was the first to confirm that the suspect had been placed in custody after two days of the killing of Charlie Kirk. Trump added that a minister and the suspect's father played an important role in persuading him to surrender to the law. He even claimed that Matt Robinson himself drove Tyler to the police headquarters. Trump said:
"I hope he’s going to be found guilty and I hope he gets the death penalty. What he did — Charlie Kirk was the finest person and he didn’t deserve this. He worked so hard and so well. Everybody liked him."
It is worth mentioning that Matt Robinson has been a veteran of the Washington County Sheriff's Office for the past 27 years. He is also registered as a Republican. Utah Governor Spencer Cox revealed that Tyler's family member contacted a family friend, who then reported the matter to the Washington County Sheriff's office. It indicated either that Tyler confessed to or implied involvement in the killing of Charlie Kirk.
It is worth mentioning that Tyler wasn't a student of Utah Valley University. A family member of Tyler revealed to the investigators that he had developed a lot of political views in recent years. The family member also revealed how Tyler had mentioned that Charlie Kirk was coming to Utah Valley University during dinner.

The person close to Tyler also added that the 22-year-old didn't like Kirk and his viewpoints. It is worth mentioning that Tyler was in hiding after the assassination of Charlie Kirk on September 11, 2025. The FBI offered a reward of up to USD 100,000 for helping to identify the suspect and get him arrested.
Charlie Kirk, the right-hand of Donald Trump, was brutally shot during an event at Utah Valley University in Orem, US. The 31-year-old was answering students' questions when everyone went still after a loud shot. He was shot in the neck. Soon, he was rushed to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Charlie Kirk is survived by a wife and two children. His wife, Erika Kirk's entire world come to a sandstill after the assassination of her husband. Donald Trump revealed that she is devastated. FBI Director, Kash Patel shared that they are trying their best to give justice to Charlie Kirk's family and honour his memory. On the other hand, Utah Governor, Spencer Cox shared in a press conference that the attack wasn't just on an individual, it was on everyone. He said:
"It is also much bigger than an attack on an individual. It is an attack on all of us. It is an attack on the American experiment. It is an attack on our ideals. This cuts to the very foundation of who we are, of who we have been and who we could be in better times."
The Governor further stated that Tyler will be charged soon. He had been booked into the Utah County Jail. He claimed that Tyler had acted alone, and officials do not have other information that would help them in additional arrests. Meanwhile, the investigation into the matter is still ongoing
