For Tyler Reddick and his wife, Alexa DeLeon Reddick, 2025 was a very difficult year. This was because Tyler and Reddick's nine-month-old son, Rookie, had shown signs of heart failure. Well, 2026 has been better for the family, as after Reddick won the Daytona 500 and started off the season in the best manner. Reddick also shared that it has been better for his little infant, Rookie.

For the unversed, Tyler's wife, Alexa, in an Instagram note about her son, shared pictures from the hospital. The child had a tube attached to his nose and was seen playing. He was born on May 25, 2025, and reportedly, in September 2025, he was taken to Charlotte's Atrium Health Levine Children's Hospital. The child had shown signs of what looked like a heart failure.

Tyler Reddick's wife, Alexa DeLeon, revealed in her Instagram post back in September that Rookie had a tumour that was choking his renal vein & renal artery. It was adding a lot of strain to his heart, and Alexa, in her note, mentioned that her little son's entire right kidney was removed. Rookie had undergone an open surgery, and Alexa mentioned:

"He will undergo open surgery to remove his right kidney. We're just not sure when. Waiting is ok right now to give his heart a break while he's on BP medication. They expect his heart to fully recover because it was just an innocent bystander. We have answers but a journey ahead to bring our little Cookie home. We're happy, we're talking, blowing bubbles, playing,& interacting with every nurse & doctor that comes in his room. Thank you thank you to everyone who's reached out. I see your kind words."

The doctors discovered a tumour on the chest of Rookie, which had compressed his renal vein and artery. In October 2025, Rookie underwent successful surgery, and he has been recuperating. One cannot imagine the mental strength of Tyler, Alexa, and little Rookie as they faced the clouds of hardship. Earlier, in an interview with the Sportsrush, Tyler spoke about Rookie's recent health status, shared:

"Yeah, he's [Reddick's] here. He did great. He came home around the Martinsville weekend last year."

A while back, Tyler Reddick's wife, Alexa, was seen posing with her infant son, Rookie, who was celebrating Tyler's biggest NASCAR race. It was all for NBA legend, Michael Jordan. The little boy had worn a cute white-and-blue striped outfit meant for babies and was seen comfortable in his mother's arms. The little one was seen celebrating his dad's victory at 23XI Racing. Alexa had captioned the cute video as, "Get me a ring baby."

For the unversed, 20 weeks ago, Alexa, on her Instagram, mentioned that after months of running around to the paediatrician's office, she knew what was going on was something bigger. Alexa revealed that she trusted her mom's gut and posted snaps with her child from the hospital. She revealed that he was showing signs of heart failure that were being missed. Posting snaps of her child from the cardiovascular ICU unit was heartbreaking, and her note read:

"Please please pray for this sweet guy that God heals his heart. With God, Rookie, and his amazing doctors here at Levine’s I believe He can. We are in the cardiovascular ICU while we get some answers and work on improving heart function. I usually don’t share our personal lives but I’m hoping you take the time to pray for him today."
