Two Much with Kajol and Twinkle, a celebrity talk show hosted by Bollywood actress, Kajol and Indian author and columnist, Twinkle Khanna, has grabbed a lot of attention with its interesting segments. However, a remark made by Twinkle Khanna during a 'This or That' segment has sparked debate online. The 'raat gayi baat gayi' remark on the show was made after Twinkle, Kajol and Karan Johar agreed that physical infidelity may not always be a deal breaker. Now, in an interview, Twinkle clarified her stance.
In a candid conversation with The Times of India, Twinkle spoke about the controversy involving the viral 'raat gayi baat gayi' remark. Replying to the claims of making 'light of infidelity', Twinkle shared that the comment was part of a light-hearted game segment. She also explained that if it had been a serious debate, she would have reacted differently and highlighted how monogamy had developed historically. She was quoted as saying:
"It was part of a light-hearted game. It was not meant as a serious debate. If it had been a serious debate, then I would have said that we need to evaluate where monogamy as a construct… when we moved from a nomadic lifestyle to farming, and then, you know, a man and his claim over his offspring came into being versus monogamy truly being something that helps society thrive and holds it together. That is a serious debate. This was just a joke, and it was a light-hearted moment."

During a bonus episode of Two Much with Kajol and Twinkle, the hosts, Kajol and Twinkle Khanna, addressed the criticism and highlighted that 'This or That' is completely a light-hearted segment. Kajol shared that this segment had brought immense trouble to them. She said during this segment, opinions matter less and light-hearted teasing plays the main role. Twinkle joined in and mentioned that they should have added a disclaimer from the first episode. She then went on to explain that anything said during this segment should not be taken seriously. Making this clear, the Indian author and columnist urged the audience not to follow any of their advice. She was quoted as saying:
"And there's a disclaimer, which we should have had from the first episode, that nothing we say in this segment should be taken seriously. Please don't follow any of our advice in this segment."

The comment, 'raat gayi baat gayi' remark was made by Twinkle, in an episode of Two Much with Kajol and Twinkle, when Janhvi Kapoor and renowned filmmaker, Karan Johar made their appearance. The controversy began when Twinkle asked Janhvi and Karan during the 'This or That' segment whether emotional infidelity is worse than physical infidelity. Hearing this, Karan, along with Kajol and Twinkle, agreed that physical infidelity doesn’t always act like a deal breaker. Their opinion made Janhvi shocked as she believed that both of the things were wrong and physical infidelity is a deal breaker. Soon after Janhvi made her choice, Twinkle said:
"We’re in our 50s, she’s in her 20s, and she will get into this circle soon. She hasn’t seen the things we have seen. Raat gayi baat gayi."

Twinkle’s 'raat gayi baat gayi' remark soon went viral. The comment received extreme backlash. Netizens also criticised Kajol and Twinkle for saying that physical infidelity doesn’t always act like a deal breaker. A Redditor wrote, "How pathetic that Twinkle and Kajol have had to tell themselves physical infidelity is ok to deal with their husbands cheating on them over the years. Never thought I'd agree with anything Janhvi said." Another Redditor penned, "They are just openly acknowledging the deeds of their husbands."
