Twinkle Khanna is the elder daughter of veteran actors, Rajesh Khanna and Dimple Kapadia. Unlike her superstar parents, Twinkle failed to impress the audience with her acting prowess, and later, turned to writing. Now, she is a well-known author, who has so far published three books, namely Mrs Funnybones (2015), The Legend of Lakshmi Prasad (2016), and Pyjamas are Forgiving (2018). Twinkle got married to Akshay Kumar, on January 17, 2001, and the duo is blessed with two kids, Aarav and Nitara.
Back in 1999, Twinkle Khanna sat for an interesting conversation with Rediff and opened up about her life as a star kid. The actress remembered how she used to watch films featuring her parents, Rajesh Khanna and Dimple Kapadia, as a 13-year-old. Reflecting on the same, she shared that she used to wonder what they did there on the sets, while she waited for them to come home and shower love on her. In her words:
"Now I know what it feels to be there. You always want to be cuddled and fondled when you are a kid. You hate being yelled at and slapped. But when you get a smack, everything changes. It makes you aware of reality."

For the unversed, Twinkle has a younger sister, Rinke Khanna, and the duo shares a warm bond with each other. In the same interview, the actress recalled a scary incident when she tossed her baby sister up in the air, and the latter fell down on the bed with a thud. When their mother, Dimple rushed to the scene, she slapped Twinkle across the face and made her cry. Revealing that she used to think her mom didn't love her, Twinkle said:
"When it came to handling Chinky -- or Rinke, my kid sister -- I was very protective. I used to carry her in my arms. But sometimes, I used to toss her up in the air and then catch her. Once, I was suddenly distracted when I threw her up and she fell down with a thud. Even though she fell on the bed, mummy was aghast and slapped me across my face. Initially, I cried a lot because I felt that mom didn't love me, but then I realised the truth after a few hours and apologised...."
Recalling yet another fun memory from her childhood, Twinkle Khanna shared an incident when she punched Amjad Khan's son, Shadab Khan in the nose. She shared that she dressed up as an Arabian princess for an event in school and she was very tense as her parents were also present in the audience. Suddenly, her veil fell off, and she got embarrassed. But Shadab helped her out and left the audience impressed, which irked Twinkle, and she punched him on his nose after the play. She said:
"It was in school. I was selected to be an Arabian princess with a veil and all. Mummy and papa were both there in the audience and I was very tense. Suddenly, my veil slid off my head. Even as I was trying to bend sideways and pick it up, Shadab Khan came in from the wings, picked up the veil and put it back on my head. People found it amusing that a boy could actually come up on stage to do that. I was embarrassed and punched him on his nose after the play."

Twinkle Khanna also revealed that demands were always high on her, right from childhood. Talking about the same, she shared that when she scored 84 per cent in her SSC, her family wasn't pleased. Even her parents, Dimple and Rajesh told her that she could have done better. Twinkle added:
"My mom told me that I could have done better. So did my father. They weren't too pleased that I had just got 84 per cent.... It's so important that you live up to the expectation of near and dear ones."
