Both Abraham Williams and Tulsi Gabbard were born and raised in the Polynesian region and share a love of water sports that brought them together. DNI Tulsi, like her family, is a Hindu and follows the Vaishnava sect of the religion. Abraham is also a Hindu born to parents of European and Samoan descent. Hence, the couple also shares the same faith. 

Abraham Williams is a filmmaker and a surfer

A look at Abraham Williams's website and Instagram page shows how talented and creative he is. He is a filmmaker and a cinematographer who has worked on many documentaries and features, and has also shot professional photographs. Many of his projects aim to capture human stories in the war zones of the Middle East. Interestingly, Tulsi Gabbard had enlisted with the National Guard before joining politics and had served in many parts of the same region.

Abraham Williams' mother, Anya Anthony, had managed Tulsi Gabbard's district office in Honolulu, stated The New York Times report. As a result, the two crossed paths when Abraham volunteered as a photographer to cover her 2012 House of Representatives campaign. However, they started dating a year and a half later. Abraham finally mustered the courage to ask Tulsi out at a mutual friend's birthday party. Talking about their relationship to The New York Times, the DNI shared:

"About a year and a half later, he asked me out for the first time at a birthday party that a mutual friend of ours threw for me. It was the first time that we had a chance to kick back, relax and really talk on a personal level."

Tulsi Gabbard and Abraham Williams tied the knot in Hawaii following Vedic rituals 

DNI Tulsi and Abraham share a love of water, having grown up surrounded by the ocean. They both love to surf together. In fact, Abraham proposed to her while surfing. In 2015, the couple tied the knot in a traditional Vedic wedding in Hawaii. For the wedding, Abraham wore a complete white ensemble, including a shirt, pants, and a suit. Meanwhile, Gabbard did not go for a traditional saree or a lehenga. Instead, she wore a blue salwar suit paired with a beige skirt. According to reports, Tulsi Gabbard is also 7 years older than her husband, Abraham Williams. She is 44, while he is 37.

On the Citizen McCain podcast, Tulsi Gabbard opened up about wanting to have children with her husband, Abraham Williams. The couple went through many rounds of IVF, which unfortunately failed. As a result, they decided to stop the process in 2020. Despite these struggles, Tulsi Gabbard and her husband, Abraham, have supported each other through everything. In an anniversary post, DNI Tulsi wrote:

"To my husband Abraham Williams—5 years ago today I walked down the aisle and into your arms. I have never looked back. I love you with all of my heart. I am endlessly grateful for you—your love, your friendship, your incredible support...I look forward to whatever lies ahead for us—together."
