Born to actor Sanjay Dutt and his first wife, late Richa Sharma, Trishala Dutt grew up in the US with her maternal grandparents post the demise of her mother. After Richa's demise, Sanjay finally found his 'happily ever after' in his third wife, Maanayata Dutt and he is making the most of the beautiful phase with her and their children, Shahraan Dutt and Iqra Dutt. Despite living in India, Sanjay shares a lovely bond with his daughter in the US and even Maanayata shares a love-filled camaraderie with her step-daughter, Trishala. Maanayata and Trishala often shower love on each other through comments on one another's social media posts.

Trishala Dutt loves to revisit the old times, every now and then, and her Instagram handle is mostly filled with unseen pictures from her family album. Last year, when Trishala had posted a vintage photo of her late mom, Richa Sharma holding her in her arms, Maanayata couldn't resist herself from commenting on the 'beautiful' picture. The happiness on Richa's face knew no bounds as she held her newborn daughter, Trishala in her arms, who slept peacefully while the newbie mommy was all smiles for the camera. Trishala had captioned the picture as "Mom & I #1988 #ripmommy." Maanayata had commented, "Beautiful" followed by heart emoticons. Sanjay Dutt's sister and Trishala's bua, Priya Dutt had also commented, "So beautiful, she is an angel in heaven now trish, always looking over you. She loved you more than anything in this world. God bless her soul" followed by heart emojis.
To mark Mother's Day 2021, Trishala Dutt, who is an ardent social media user, showered love on the women, who hold a motherly figure in her life. To begin with, Trishala posted a throwback picture of her mom, Richa Sharma, looking stunning in a white jumpsuit paired with matching footwear and a black hat. Trishala added a sticker on her IG story, with mom written on a heart. Then Trishala wished her maternal grandmother, who nurtured and raised her into who she is today. Trishala added 'Happy Mother's Day' and 'Grandma On Board' stickers atop it. She also wished her step-mom, Maanayata Dutt and aunts, Priya Dutt and Namrata Dutt on this special occasion.

Trishala Dutt is a psychotherapist by profession and she often interacts with her followers on social media through 'Ask Me Anything' sessions. In one such session held on March 16, 2021, Trishala was asked to share an unseen picture of her parents, Sanjay Dutt and Richa Sharma, which she hadn't posted before. Trishala had shared a loved-up picture of her parents, in which Sanjay had posed with his arm around Richa and she was all smiles for the camera.

In a throwback 'Ask Me Anything' session, when Trishala Dutt was asked, "How is it living without your parents?" she had retorted, "It's fine, I guess. I never lived with them to begin with (I did but I was so young I don’t remember much) so I can't really answer how it feels living without them." When another user had asked her "How do you feel being Sanjay Dutt's daughter?" Trishala had candidly answered, "Honestly, it feels normal. He's like any other father. When I'm with him, it feels like I'm with my dad. It doesn't feel any different than what you probably feel when you are with your father."
On International Women's Day 2021, Sanjay Dutt had celebrated the women in his life by dedicating a post to them on his social media handles.
