Vijayta Pandit is one of the most charming actresses of the 80s. With her sharp features and charming smile, Vijayta made everyone’s heart flutter when she made her debut with the film, Love Story in 1981, opposite the handsome Kumar Gaurav. The film turned out to be a blockbuster, and Vijayta had become an overnight star.
After her debut film, Love Story, Vijayta got an array of film offers and starred in movies like Mohabbat, Car Thief, Jeete Hain Shaan Se, Deewana Tere Naam Ka, Zalzala. Vijayta, who belongs to a musical family is also a singer and the niece of classical singer, Pandit Jasraj. She had sung for films like Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar, Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa, Saazish, Dev, Chingaari.

Though Vijayta Pandit’s personal life was touching the sky, her personal life was nothing less than a roller-coaster ride as she went through a lot of tragedies. Let’s take a look at her turbulent personal life:
After the release of her film, Love Story, Vijayta Pandit was linked to her co-star, Kumar Gaurav. Rumours had it that the duo was so serious about each other, that they were even thinking of getting married. However, Kumar Gaurav’s father, Rajendra Kumar was against their alliance. Since both Vijayta and Kumar Gaurav didn’t want to go against their family, they decided to part ways mutually.

In 1986, Vijayta starred in the film, Car Thief and got married to the director of the film, Sameer Malkan. However, the relationship didn’t work out due to reasons best known to them, and the couple got divorced.
After her separation from Sameer Malkan, Vijayta Pandit got married to music composer, Aadesh Shrivastava in 1990. The couple embraced parenthood with the arrival of their kids, Anivesh and Avitesh. In 2010, Aadesh was diagnosed with Multiple myeloma and underwent chemotherapy. In 2015, Vijayta’s world turned upside down when Aadesh bid adieu to the world at the age of 51. Aadesh’s untimely death had devastated Vijayta, who had raised her children single-handedly.

After Aadesh Shrivastava’s death, Vijayta faced a lot of financial turbulence. In an interview with the Times of India, Vijayta recalled how she had felt depressed after her husband’s death and had said:
“I became very lonely and depressed after he passed away, and also faced financial crisis, but did not ask for help from anyone. My husband, too, had never asked for financial help, even when he was sick. Aadesh was a very loving and caring husband and treated me like a princess. He gave me all the comforts of life. Our marriage even proved lucky for us--Aadesh became the number one music composer after we got married.”
In the same interview, Vijayta also spoke about spending all the money on Aadesh’s treatment and had stated:
“Unfortunately, he fell ill and all the money that he had earned was spent on his treatment. Aadesh even sold his expensive car for Rs 1 crore so that we could travel to London, USA, and Canada for his treatment. Later, even I had to sell the car that Aadesh had gifted me on my birthday.”
After Aadesh’s death, Vijayta faced a lot of financial struggles, while raising her two sons. At that time, it was reported that many B-town celebs came forward to help her. But she got the royalties of her late husband’s musical work. Talking about the same, she had said:
“My husband never asked anyone for money and as his wife, I will keep that respect. Luckily for me, I started getting royalty money from all of Aadesh's music work so was able to manage my house.”
Life had taken many tests on Vijayta Pandit with its twists and turns, but the beautiful actress never gave up. Be it giving up her love for Kumar Gaurav or raising her kids single-headedly after her husband, Aadesh Shrivastava’s death, she did everything with a ray of hope for a better future.
