She has been associated with the TMC party for the last 15 years and is known for her bold voice, straightforward and fierce attitude. Now and then, she dominates the headlines for political reasons, and it was on June 5, 2025, when Mahua again made it to the headlines, but that time, for personal reasons. The politician got married to former BJD's Pinaki Misra in a hush-hush wedding soiree, and it caused a stir. However, after two months of the same, the duo celebrated their union with a lavish wedding reception in Delhi.

Several glimpses from Mahua Moitra and Pinaki Misra's reception have gone viral on social media. The couple hosted the reception party at Hotel Lalit in New Delhi. Sonia Gandhi marked her presence and blessed the couple for their new endeavours. Celebrities like Rachana Banarjee, Saayoni Ghosh, June Malia, along with several other famous political figures, were also present, including Sagarika Ghose, Supriya Sule, Shiv Sena UBT MP Priyanka Chaturvedi, former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, among so many others.

For the day, Mahua Moitra opted for a red-toned pure Jamdani saree, which she teamed with a red blouse. She opted for a dewy makeup, including red bindi and red lipstick. Gold jewels, including a layered necklace, ring and maang teeka finalised her look.

Pinaki, on the other hand white-toned kurta-pyjama set with red highlights on it. Moreover, the couple looked the happiest as they celebrated their union in a privately held grand reception party in New Delhi. Several attendees of this reception party took to their social media handles and congratulated the couple on their future endeavours.

Mahua Moitra and Pinaki Misra's wedding came as a shock to many, as the couple has their respective strong identities in the political sphere, and no one had expected such a crossover. A TMC source first revealed the news to TOI and shared that the wedding took place a Germany a few days ago. Later, on June 5, 2025, Mahua took to her X (Twitter) and shared a photo of herself with Pinaki, wherein the couple was seen cutting a cake. Mahua looked pretty in a golden and pink-hued saree, while Pinaki kept it classic in a white kurta and jacket.

While not many details about their relationship timeline are known, as per a report by India Today, the duo's friendship eventually grew stronger, which was based on their shared values, conversation, mutual independence, and intellect. For the unversed, Mahua was earlier married to Danish financier Lars Brorson, but they eventually parted ways. Pinkai was married to Sangita, and they share two kids. However, after years of being married, the couple decided to call it quits.
