For the unversed, on March 27, 2026, Tiger was involved in a rollover crash at Jupiter Island, Florida, following which he was arrested on charges of driving under the influence (DUI). While people kept asking the same question, why the American professional golfer never hired a driver, Tiger reportedly gave a befitting reply. Amid this, the latest reports claimed that the golfer has been charged with careless driving.

According to a report by TMZ Sports, Tiger Woods has been charged with careless driving, along with DUI. However, under Florida law, careless driving is not a criminal offence but a civil traffic offence. On April 2, 2026, the ticket was filed in Martin County and carries a fine of USD 163. As per Florida law, the primary consequences for careless driving, include fines ranging between USD 150 and USD 300, a conviction adding four points to the driver’s license, leading to automatic license cancellation with too many points, increased insurance premiums, and no prison time.

For the uninitiated, in 2017, Tiger Woods was arrested by Jupiter police on a DUI charge. The cops found him asleep and incoherent in his vehicle on the side of the road. Following two arrests on charges of DUI, people asked why Tiger never hired a driver. However, a source's recent revelation seemed like Tiger gave a befitting reply to their most-asked question. The source told People:

"He doesn't want anyone to watch over him or know what he is doing. And he thinks he is fine to drive. He is not a social butterfly and prefers to hang around his home with his kids, or hitting balls, or playing video games. He despises public scrutiny."

On April 2, 2026, a new bodycam footage featuring Tiger Woods while he was arrested on the charges of DUI surfaced online. In the video, Tiger was seen speaking to cops and participating in field sobriety tests. As he was being handcuffed, Tiger asked, "I'm being arrested?" At the time, the police said that they believed his "normal faculties are impaired." During the search, the police found cash, a pair of AirPods, nicotine-free focus pouches and two opioid pills from Tiger’s pocket. In the video, Tiger said to the police that the pills are "Norco", a prescription opioid that combines hydrocodone and acetaminophen. In another bodycam footage released by WPBF on April 2, 2026, Tiger shared what exactly happened just before the rollover crash. He was quoted as saying:
