Amazon Prime Video has continued bringing some good films to its platform. There is a long list of titles for 2026, and the latest is the buddy cop action comedy, The Wrecking Crew. The film started streaming from January 28, 2026, and it is directed by Angel Manuel Soto, who is known for the DC superhero film, Blue Beetle. Jason Momoa and Dave Bautista play the lead roles, and they also serve as producers alongside Jeffrey Fierson, Matt Reeves, and Lynn Harris.
While the premise isn't new, the film will deliver enough entertainment with a crisp runtime, ensuring viewers don’t get bored. There is a lot of action on screen and many fun moments that people would remember once the end credits roll. Keep reading to know if the film deserves a one-time watch on the small screen.

Viewers expect every actor to bring something unique when they appear in a new film or TV show. The Wrecking Crew does not disappoint in this case, as it gets more interesting due to the lead characters not having a lot of things in common. It makes the audience curious to know what will happen next since the plot revolves around two half-brothers reuniting after 20 years to find what happened to their father.

Dave’s character, 'James Hale,' is a U.S. Navy SEAL Commander who is satisfied with his life as he has a family, which includes a wife and two children. All of them stay together in a house that is near the beach. But 'Jason’s' character, 'Jonny Hale,' is not like 'James.' Despite being a police detective, 'Jonny' has a lot of things going on in his life, including a relationship with a woman that is not working anymore. However, the one thing that remains the same between the half-brothers is their family history, with 'James' seemingly trying to avoid it while fulfilling his responsibilities as a husband and father.

With a story of two characters working to resolve the mystery behind a man’s demise, The Wrecking Crew is expected to have a lot of action. People who prefer enjoying raw action moments won’t be disappointed, as there are plenty of memorable scenes. MPAA undoubtedly did not make a wrong choice by giving it an R rating, as a lot of violence unfolds on screen when the main characters confront the bad guys.

The best among them is Jason Momoa, facing a group of Yakuza assassins in his trailer while they arrive to get a package from him. This also leads to a reunion of the character with his half-brother in Hawaii, starting the real journey. The action does not seem unnecessary anywhere, as they happen for a reason. The action scenes have been prepared without any flaws, and the best ones among them include a chase sequence, involving a helicopter and some assassins.

Despite having a storyline that needs a lot of seriousness, the writers have done the best job in terms of blending comedy in between the moments where Jason Momoa and Dave Bautista’s characters work to find their father’s murderer. The duo reunites after their father’s funeral in Hawaii, and this is where the funny moments work in making audiences laugh. Since the characters do not like each other, there are scenes where they argue. This does not end in one particular scene, as it continues for a long time.
Apart from Dave and Jason, other actors also get a chance to impress with their skills. This includes Jacob Batalon, whose comedy scenes work up to a great extent. But the best among them is child actress, Maia Kealoha, who is spotted doing something to Jason’s character in one of the sequences, making it a hilarious moment to remember.
