When Manoj Muntasir Revealed The Reason Behind Calling Off His Wedding At The Last Moment

One of the biggest names in the Indian music industry, Manoj Muntasir is a supremely talented lyricist, poet and screenwriter. Manoj had penned the scripts for shows like Kaun Banega Crorepati, India's Got Talent, Indian Idol Junior and many more. He has also written hit-tracks like Teri Mitti, Phir Bhi Tumko Chaahunga, Galliyan, Tere Sang Yaara, Kaun Tujhe, Dil Meri Na Sune, and the list goes on. Apart from his hit songs, Manoj is also admired for his humble and grounded nature.

While everyone is aware of his writing prowess, Manoj Muntasir has always kept his personal life private. The lyricist hardly makes public appearances with his wife, Neelam Muntasir. However, he had once appeared on the comedy show, The Kapil Sharma Show with fellow lyricists, Amitabh Bhattacharjee and Swanand Kirkire, the ever-so-private, Manoj had shared some rare details about his life.

When Manoj Muntasir had appeared on the popular comedy show, The Kapil Sharma Show in 2020, and had shared a surprising and inspirational snippet about his personal life. The renowned lyricist had revealed that he had once called off his marriage with a girl. When the show's host, Kapil Sharma, had urged him to reveal the reason why he had called it off, Manoj had recalled the incident and had revealed that he had chosen his passion over his love for that girl. He had stated that the girl's brother had come to him one day and had questioned him about what he was planning to do in life to earn a living. Answering this, Manoj had clearly stated to him that he wanted to write songs for the rest of his life. Recalling the same, he had said:

"The first time around, shaadi ke card bhi chhap chuke the and May 13, 1997 was the wedding date, which I still clearly remember. Around April end, the brother of the bride came to meet me and asked what my future plans were. I told him that bhai, main lyricist banunga. He said, woh toh theek hai, par kaam kya karoge? I told him that I won't lie, but I want to write songs for the rest of my life. We went back and called off the wedding. Of course I loved the girl. But the choice was between writing and marriage, and I chose writing."

Going further in the show, The Kapil Sharma Show, Manoj Muntasir had talked about his wife, Neelam Muntasir and had hilariously stated that after his marriage was called off with the girl he had then loved, he had tried a different approach in life and love. The lyricist had added that he had decided to fall in love first so that he could get married. For the unversed, Manoj is married to the love of his life, Neelam Muntasir and the couple is blessed with a son named, Aaru. Coming back to his statement on the show, he had stated:

“Ek baar marriage hote hote reh gayi and fir maine love kiya taki main marriage kar paoon.”

Once in an interview with India.com, Manoj Muntasir had talked about the time when he was going through a massive tragedy in his personal life, but he had to pen down the script of a comedy show. Reflecting on a writer's life and how sometimes, it can be excruciating and exhausting, Manoj had stated that once, his son, Aaru, had got hospitalised for a serious illness. Recalling the same, he had explained:

"This incident goes back to the time when I was writing a comedy show for television. I had not really started writing for the movies by that time. My son, who was just a year-old then, was hospitalised for a serious illness. The doctors had asked us to pray for his better health and we were feeling unimaginable emotional stress. I had to write a comedy in that situation. I sat near the bed and was trying to figure out how to feel the comedy when there's so much that's going inside me emotionally. But, it was a job. I had to do it. I did."

Manoj Muntasir is not just an incredible lyricist but also a hands-on husband and father, who never misses a chance to be with his family, away from the glam and glitz of the film industry.
