'The Girlfriend' OTT Release Announced, When And Where To Watch Rashmika Mandanna's Powerful Film

Rashmika Mandanna is a popular actress, who has managed to impress the audience with her films across multiple languages. Most recently, the actress was seen in the film, The Girlfriend, directed by Rahul Ravindran and co-starring Dheekshith Shetty and Anu Emmanuel. The Telugu film, The Girlfriend hit the theatres on November 7, 2025. On November 30, 2025, the makers of the film announced its OTT release date. The film, The Girlfriend will be released on Netflix from December 5, 2025 onwards. For those who don’t know, the film stars Rashmika Mandanna as ‘Bhoomi Devi’ and Dheekshith Shetty as ‘Vikram’ in the lead. It is also worth mentioning that the Telugu film will be released in multiple languages including Hindi, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam.

The Girlfriend is the story of 'Bhooma' (Rashmika Mandanna), a bright and young woman who joins college in Hyderabad to pursue her master’s in literature. Soon, she meets 'Vikram' (Dheekshith Shetty), a charming senior, who initially seems caring but as the film moves forwards, he turns out to be controlling. And soon the affection turned into manipulation and gaslighting. 

The film, directed by Rahul Ravindran shows 'Bhooma's' journey, who struggles with shame, confusion, handling truth and the cost of staying silent. The film also explores her healing journey including painful choices and emotional fallout.

When the Telugu film was released, it received a lot of appreciation and love online. One user commented, "The girlfriend, whole movie is very good. How much did The Girlfriend earn?

According to multiple reports, Rashmika Mandanna’s film, The Girlfriend was reportedly made on a budget of Rs. 40 crores. When the film was released, it managed to earn only Rs. 32 crore. While the fee isn’t confirmed by Rashmika or the makers of the film, some reports had suggested that the Animal actress has charged around Rs. 3 crore for her role in The Girlfriend. 

When Vijay Deverakonda appreciated Rashmika Mandanna’s role

On November 12, 2025, at the success party of The Girlfriend, the makers of the film had also invited Rashmika’s rumoured fiance, Vijay Deverakonda. At the party, the actor had opened up about Rashmika’s journey in the industry and also appreciated her film. He had shared:

"Rashi, I wanted to say that I am so proud that you are standing here with a film that may give strength to others who might need it. I watched the movie today. It made me emotional. I had to hold back tears at many places. This is one of the best films I've seen in recent times."
