The Gilded Age Season 3 recently released its latest episode. The sixth episode of the season, If You Want to Make an Omelette has been released, and its ending is truly heartbreaking. The show ends in a tragic accident involving the series' beloved couple, 'John Adams' and 'Oscar Van Rhijn'.
Well, Julian Fellowes has done it again, after leaving several fans heartbroken with the sudden demise of 'Lady Sybil' and 'Matthew Crawley' in Downton Abbey, he has officially brought his macabre dramatic flair to HBO. The Gilded Age just released episode 6 for season 3 and, in a twisted turn of events, killed off a character right in front of their true love's eyes. Yes! We are talking about 'John Adams' and 'Oscar Van Rhijn'. The long-time secret love affair came to a tragic end. 'John' was proud of 'Oscar' for bouncing back from the loss of his fortune and taking pity on 'Maud Beaton'.
However, between unsaid 'I love yous', 'John' and 'Oscar' are separated forever. The sweet goodbye soon turns into a moment of tragedy as once 'John' casually walks to the curb to hail a cab, he is immediately ploughed into the air by a charging horse and carriage. What's worse? All of this happens in front of 'Oscar', who holds his lover's body as he dies in his arms, completely horrified by the twist of fate.
Two more episodes remain for Season 3 of The Gilded Age, and fans are eager to know what the upcoming episodes might entail. 'John Adams' died after he was injured pretty badly by the horse carriage, giving no scope for his survival. However, fans are wondering why the makers had to make it happen in front of 'Oscar'. Well, the Gilded Age has featured the two best friends/ secret lovers since the beginning of the show.
They have to keep their romance under wraps because being gay was illegal during this time. Making their reputations, lives, and families all hang in the balance. So the best 'Oscar' can do in terms of a public display of love is to thank John from the bottom of his heart. Making the scene even more heartbreaking, how will 'Oscar' mourn the demise of his secret lover will be tough to see in the coming episodes.
