Jaideep Ahlawat is currently making headlines for his vicious character role in the series, The Family Man 3. For the unversed, Jaideep has stepped in as 'Rukma' in the new season of the hit franchise, The Family Man 3. In a recent interview, Jaideep opened up about one of the most talked about issues prevalent in the film industry, that is pay disparity. There are multiple instances when female actors claimed that they were paid less than male actors. Now, Jaideep added a new side to the following.
In a recent interview with News18 Showsha, Jaideep Ahlawat was questioned about the 'getting less paid' statement by his co-star, Manoj Bajpayee. In response, Jaideep agreed to Manoj and shared that often actors who do commericial films earn more money than the middle-of-the-road actors. He then explained that commerical films are like a race, where makers invest money on an actor who has a huge fan base. Jaideep was quoted as saying:
"Commercial cinema is like a race. Horse races hota hai na… kisi ghode pe paise lagaaoge, toh woh jeetega hi kyunki aap ko pata hai ki woh jeet ne ke laayak hai. If I’m putting in Rs 100 crores on a film, I’ll look for a face who I know can give me Rs 200 crore. It’s obvious that I’ll place my bet on an actor who can bring in the numbers."

Jaideep highlighted that changes were brought by the top producers and directors. The Family Man 3 actor then shared that he always believed that a story should have a hero than an actor dominating a story. He added how things can change for good. He mentioned that although the films that focuses mainly on an actor can bring money, it won’t turn out to be a good film. He was quoted as saying:
"This change has to come from the top – producers and directors. I always say this – ek naayak ki kahaani nahi hoti hai, ek kahaani ka naayak hota hai. If you write a story and then choose your hero, only then a systemic change will happen. But if you choose the hero first and then weave a story around and according to him, it won’t work. It may bring you the money but it won’t turn out to be a good film. But that’s how the system is."

Jaideep Ahlawat played the key negative character. He portrayed the role of 'Rukma', an antagonist. According to a report by Bollywood Life, Jaideep earned around Rs. 9 crore for his role.

In the same interview, Jaideep revealed that after his negative role in the film, Commando: A One Man Army, he getting typecasted. He mentioned that it was very annoying for him. Jaideep later shared that he wants to try something new and doesn’t want to repeat any character role. He was quoted as saying:

"It happened after Commando. I started getting offered a lot of weird negative characters. The character I played in that film was a little weird and off. Everybody started coming to me with roles with that kind of weirdness – ki basically aap gaadhe ho. It was very annoying! Once you do something different, every second script that comes to you starts looking exactly the same. Why should I take them up? Once a character is over, it’s done. I don’t want to play it again."
