John Abraham is once again in the headlines ahead of the release of his film, The Diplomat. The movie is directed by the famous filmmaker, Shivam Nair. The first reviews of John's The Diplomat are out, and it seems like the actor will finally register a hit at the box office after a long wait. Several movie critics have reviewed John Abraham's film and have lauded the actor for his intense performance.
In a conversation with The Hindu, critically acclaimed filmmaker, Anurag Kashyap talked about The Diplomat and lauded the film. Anurag shared that after a long time, he had seen John Abraham doing good work. Despite not doing any unnecessary action and "herogiri" in the story-based film, John has given an impressive acting performance, as per Anurag Kashyap. The director also heaped praises on The Diplomat's director, Shivam Nair.
Talking about the movie, The Diplomat is directed by Shivam Nair, who previously directed the film, Naam Shabana. The film features John Abraham and Sadia Khateeb in lead roles. The film is based on the life of an Indian national named Uzma Ahmed, who was rescued by an Indian diplomat named JP Singh. The real-life incident is a part of the history books, and even to this day, it is still considered as one of the most unexpected rescue missions ever.
Apart from John Abraham and Sadia Khateeb in lead roles, The Diplomat also features Prapti Shukla, Ashwath Bhatt, Sharib Hashmi, Kumud Mishra, Ram Gopal Bajaj, and many more. The film is going to be released on March 14, 2025. Uzma Ahmed was an Indian citizen who met a Pakistani man named Tahir Ali in Malaysia. The two fell in love, and Tahir even promised Uzma to take care of her daughter, who was suffering from thalassemia disease. Uzma took the leap of faith and went to Pakistan with her daughter to spend the rest of her life with her lover, Tahir. Witnessing the heartbreaking reality, Uzma Ahmed decided to leave Pakistan, but Tahir Ali forced her to marry him at gunpoint. After their forced marriage, Tahir abused Uzma sexually and mentally for a long time. One day, Uzma managed to call her cousin, who was living in Malaysia and told him everything about it.
After talking to him and her other friend, she contacted the Indian High Commission of Islamabad for help. Uzma Ahmed told her husband, Tahir Ali, that her cousin had sent some money as a gift to her for getting married. Tahir was a greedy man, and he agreed to Uzma's request and took her to the Indian High Commission.
Upon reaching the Indian Embassy, Uzma Ahmed narrated her entire story to the Indian officials, and it was Deputy High Commissioner, JP Singh who took charge of this case. The esteemed diplomat handled the whole situation and directly contacted India's then Minister of External Affairs, Sushma Swaraj. After a long legal battle, JP Singh finally succeeded in rescuing Uzma Ahmed from Pakistan and brought her back to India. Seeing the iconic rescue mission on the big screen will be interesting.
