Thamma, the horror comedy directed by Aditya Sarpotdar, has finally hit the theatres. The fifth instalment of Maddock Horror Comedy Universe, starring Ayushmann Khurana and Rashmika Mandanna, has already left social media buzzing. For the unversed, Thamma has released today on October 21, 2025. The supernatural film promises a paranormal romance between 'Alok Goyal' (played by Ayushmann Khurana) and 'Tadaka' (played by Rashmika Mandanna. Now that horror comedy has hit the big screens, let’s take a look at the reactions of the audience.
Thamma is a paranormal love story with a dark and suspenseful twist. It can be described as a supernatural tale mixed with romance, mythology, and action. The film revolves around 'Alok Goyal', a TV journalist who lives with his parents in Delhi. During a trekking trip with his friends, 'Alok' encountered a wild animal that attacked him and left him badly injured. However, he gets rescued by 'Tadaka', a mysterious and beautiful woman living somewhere deep in the forest. Meanwhile, the duo develops feelings for each other. Soon, 'Alok' learns about 'Tadaka's' true identity.
She belongs to an ancient tribe of Indian vampires known as the 'betaals', led by the powerful and dangerous leader, 'Yakshasan' (Nawazuddin Siddiqui). When Tadaka goes against her tribe to save 'Alok', a fierce battle breaks out between 'Yakshasan' and the 'betaals', who want to live peacefully with the humans. Meanwhile, 'Alok' discovers his deeply rooted connection with the 'betaals'. He too joined the fight involving the powerful leader, 'Yakshasan'.

The first half was a bit draggy but man...The 2nd half is the real deal. The Bhediya V/S Vampire sequence is a Banger - Varun Dhawan as Bhediya can never miss. Ayushmann and Rashmika did a great job, while Nawaz - Nice." Calling the horror comedy, entertaining and fun to watch, a user penned, "#Thamma 3.5/5 Entertaining & Full on Fun #Review. It's a different love story. A moviegoer wrote, "FIRST HALF… Decent… Takes time to pick up, but once it does, it gets better #AyushmannKhurrana & #RashmikaMandanna are good… Supporting Cast… Visuals are good too. Decent Screenplay. 2nd half is the key." Discussing the plus and minus points of the movie, a user penned, "Aditya Sarpotdar’s #Thamma mostly maintains a good balance of horror, humor, and emotion. Though a few parts of the screenplay could have been better, the movie still keeps you engaged. Plus: Performances, Main Emotion Between the Lead Pair, Some Hilarious Moments, Crucial Scenes in the Second Half. Minus: Dull Moments at a Few Places, A Few Redundant Parts." Few fans claimed that the movie was the weakest of the Maddock films. The tweet can be read as:
"#Thamma INTERVAL DISAPPOINTMENT - Weakest film of @MaddockFilms after Bhediya!! UNBEARABLE !!!!"
