Tell Me Lies Season 3 is all set to return to Hulu. The show brings back what can be summarised as one of the most toxic situationships known to mankind. And this time, the cycle is all set to bleed as 'Lucy' and 'Stephen' arrive for the wedding of their college BFFs, 'Bree' and 'Evan', eight years after 'Lucy's' freshman year, a flash-forward that we'll see more of when the show returns.
Tell Me Lies Season 2 finale ended with a voicemail from 'Stephen' threatening to end that relationship and 'Lucy's' friendship with 'Bree' moments before the latter was meant to walk down the aisle. However, it seems like the college timeline, where most of the show took place, featured a rather happy couple, with 'Lucy' and 'Stephen' together and very happy.

The makers released a new trailer for Tell Me Lies Season 3, promising more lies, juicy drama, and romantic entanglements to come. The trailer opens with 'Lucy' recording an apology video. However, it's not clear for whom. She's dating 'Stephen' again, which her friends think is 'crazy'. On the other hand, 'Pippa' is back with 'Rigley' despite having feelings for 'Stephen's' ex, 'Diana'.

Despite the head game he played last season, 'Bree' cannot get over her fling with 'Oliver'. Meanwhile, 'Stephen' is back to his sociopathic ways. When 'Lucy' asks him why he is doing 'this', he responds callously, "Because I want to hurt you, and I don't know how else to do it." The series, produced by Emma Roberts and based on Carola Lovering's novel, has outpaced the book's narrative, making it anyone's guess what comes next.

Tell Me Lies Season 3 was announced by Hulu in December 2024, two months after its Season 2 finale. And now, the show is all set to return on January 13, 2026 (ET), with weekly episode drops. The season finale will be released on February 24, 2026.

One person who is not sure will be coming back to the show is Thomas Doherty, aka 'Leo'. Yes, 'Lucy's' fan-favourite boyfriend, whom she left so she could get back together with 'Stephen' at the end of Season 2. In a conversation with Us Weekly, Thomas reflected on the same and stated:
"I wasn't actually too surprised about the fans' reaction to my character. After Season 1, Leo just slotted into that gap. It made sense. What surprised me was all the outpouring of love. It’s really kind of overwhelming at times."

However, Season 3 will mark the surprise return of Tom Ellis, the college professor 'Oliver' from Season 2. Yes! The same married professor 'Oliver' who had a secret relationship with Bree (his wife’s student), which soured when it was revealed that his wife was well aware of the affair. While Tom had originally said he would not be returning to the show, he surprised fans during a May 6, 2025, interview with PEOPLE, hinting at more drama to come. He stated:
"I've got to be honest, the focus isn't so much on my character this season, but it still plays very much into the Bree storyline. Just when you thought our characters couldn’t do anything more ridiculous to themselves, they ended up doing it."
Tell Me Lies will be bringing some new faces on board for Season 3, which will include the debut of Iris Apatow, who will be playing a recurring character named 'Amanda'. According to Deadline, she is "a bubbly but fragile college freshman keeping a big secret." Meanwhile, the show will take a deeper dive into 'Bree's' storyline this season. Costa D'Angelo will also appear in the show, essaying the role of 'Alex', a psychology grad student and part-time drug dealer who has a "complicated past with Bree."

He appears briefly in the trailer, having a conversation with 'Lucy'. 'Alex' sounds a bit like 'Stephen' as he is described as "aloof and borderline rude" with "hidden depths", and fans can only hope that's not a code for narcissistic personality traits like 'Stephen'. 'Alex's' addition is particularly intriguing for fans eager to learn who she was having a tense conversation with on her wedding day. While some speculate it could be 'Oliver' on the other end, others think it's connected with 'Bree's' foster care past.

Showrunner, Meaghan Oppenheimer teased that she's eager for fans to reexamine how they view 'Lucy', who might face consequences she does not deserve. During the ABC's On the Red Carpet, Meaghan reflected on what's to come and shared that they are about to begin the punishment storyline for 'Lucy'. She was quoted as saying:
"I hear a lot of people say 'she's as bad as Stephen,' which I think is just baffling to me that anyone thinks that, but here we go. And so I was doing something where I'm like, we're gonna put her on this punishment storyline. And I want you guys to ask yourselves at the end of the season if you feel OK about that, you know? How do you actually feel that you were so hard on this girl?"
As for 'Stephen', he won't be turning a new leaf anytime soon. Jackson White shared that while he might 'question his morality, and have feelings,' he doesn't yet know what they are. So, instead of trying to process what he's feeling, fans can expect him to get worse. He added, "He doesn't know what to do with his feelings, except to hurt people. That's his only weapon. So, we just see him do everything he's been doing, but worse."
