Tejas Crash, Pilot Namansh Syal Final Rites, His Wife Breaks Down, Holds 7-Yr-Old Daughter Hands

The mortal remains of Wing Commander Namash Syal have been brought to India after he lost his life in the Tejas crash during the prestigious Dubai Air Show. The news sent shockwaves across the country. On November 23, 2025, his mortal remains were brought to Sulur Air Base in Coimbatore. However, the family is most affected by the loss.

Namansh Syal's wife breaks down but stays strong for her seven-year-old daughter

A video of the late Wing Commander Namansh Syal's wife surfaced on the internet from his funeral. In the clip, she was trying to hold herself but failed to do so as she walked into the funeral of her husband with her seven-year-old daughter. Dressed up in her uniform, Afasana did her best to stay calm, but her teary eyes showed the state of her heart. On the other hand, the little girl was confused and looked heartbroken. 

What happened to IAF Wing Commander Namansh Syal while flying India's Tejas aircraft?

Indian Air Force Wing Commander Namansh Syal was flying the ill-fated Tejas fighter jet at the high-profile exhibition at the Dubai Air Show on November 21, 2025. The crash occurred at around 2:10 p.m. local time at AI Maktoum International Airport in the United Arab Emirates during an aerobatic display. 

It is worth mentioning that over 150 countries had been showing their aerospace capacity at the grand Dubai Air Show that started on November 17, 2025. It was scheduled to end on November 21, 2025. As per the visuals from the final day, a Tejas aircraft in the air suddenly nosedived and crashed, sending fumes of smoke and fire over the AI Maktoum International Airport at Dubai World Central. Investigations are underway to determine the cause of the crash.

In the last moments when the Fighter Jet was crashing, Namansh Syal used his presence of mind and made sure to steer the aircraft away from the populated areas. The Indian Air Force released an official statement saying that in his final moments, he did his best to save as many lives as he could. The Air Force added:

"The nation has lost a brave and skilled pilot. The Indian Air Force stands firmly with the martyr’s family."

More about Namansh Syal's family

Namansh Syal hailed from Patialakar village in the Nagrota Bagwan constituency of Kangra district. A wave of grief has engulfed the region as the family, friends, and the entire village are in deep shock. Namansh is survived by his father, Gagan Kumar, who is a retired principal, while his mother, Veena Devi, is a homemaker. 

Namansh Syal was married to Afsana, who is also a pilot in the Indian Air Force. The couple is blessed with a seven-year-old daughter. The couple had been married for the past 16 years, and their world came crashing down with the crash of Tejas. Namansh's mortal remains have not yet reached India. The government is taking all the procedures to bring the mortal remains back after completing all the formalities.
