John Mellencamp has opened up about his youngest daughter, Teddi's ongoing battle with cancer, and it's a whole bunch of suffering. The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum was diagnosed with stage 2 melanoma in 2022, which metastasized to stage 4 over time. Now, the musician shared that Teddi hasn't been doing well at all.
On Wednesday, January 14, 2026, John Mellencamp spoke about his daughter's current condition during an appearance on the Joe Rogan Experience podcast. The 74-year-old musician shared that Teddi has been "really sick" and suffering, adding that the cancer has spread to her brain. Speaking of the reality TV star's health journey, John shared:
"It’s not f---ing fun. She’s got cancer in the brain, and she’s suffering right now.”

John's recent update comes as a shock, given that only a few months ago, Teddi had shared her cancer was "gone", adding how unbelievable it all felt. For those unaware, the 44-year-old RHOBH alum was diagnosed with stage 2 melanoma, the deadliest form of skin cancer, in 2022. Doctors had initially given her a "50/50 chance" of survival. Over time, however, the cancer became more aggressive, and by 2025, it had spread to her brain and lungs and reached stage 4.

Months before John's update, Teddi herself had spoken about her cancer battle during an October 2025 episode of her Two T's in a Pod podcast with co-host Dolores Catania. The reality star, who has undergone multiple procedures to remove cancerous tumors from her body, shared in April 2025 that the disease had progressed to Stage 4. In her October 3 episode, she sounded confident and relieved as she shared:
“Just to give a little life update to you guys, I had my immunotherapy yesterday, and I did my scans, and at this point there is no detectable cancer... When they told me, I was in such shock. I was like, numb... I'm still going to be having days when I'm feeling sick and stuff because I still am in immunotherapy, so I'm still fighting because you have to be.”

While she didn't declare herself cancer-free, Teddi mentioned that there were still high chances of getting sick again, and this was not a remission. The RHOBH star talked about the highs and lows of her cancer journey, mentioning that she still had years of treatment and therapies ahead of her before being declared cancer-free. She shared:

“I’m not considered in remission or anything like that. The way the [doctors] said it works, it's like one year, then two years, then at three years you're allowed to be considered … in remission. So, but that was huge news yesterday.”
Teddi Mellencamp's diagnosis came after she got a patch on her back checked in 2022, and it turned out to be stage 2 melanoma. According to the Mayo Clinic, melanoma is an invasive form of skin cancer that begins in melanin-producing cells and generally originates on skin exposed to the sun. It is considered the deadliest form of skin cancer due to its aggressive nature.

Since her diagnosis, Teddi has had multiple surgeries to remove over 17 cancerous spots on her skin. Unfortunately, by 2025, doctors had found multiple tumors in her brain, a "direct result" of her melanoma, followed by two more tumors in her lungs. Months later, her cancer progressed to stage 4.
With John Mellencamp's recent revelation, fans have been left worried about the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star. Praying for Teddi's quick recovery.
