Taylor Frankie Paul has been in the headlines recently for her disturbing domestic violence-related arrest from 2023, with new bodycam footage and audio tapes surfacing. The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives alum's scheduled ABC series, The Bachelorette Season 22, had to be pulled at the last minute due to the resurfaced allegations from her ex, Dakota Mortensen.
That night, he had to call the cops for help after Taylor kicked him and threw barstools at him, while her daughter, Indy, was present in the room. Amid resurfaced videos from the ill-fated night, TMZ has obtained audio clips from Taylor's ex-husband, Tate Paul, shedding fresh light on the case.
The newly released recording captures Tate speaking with police shortly after the now-infamous altercation involving Dakota Mortensen, offering glimpses into his concern as both a father and a co-parent. In the recorded call, Tate can be heard questioning whether all the children present in Taylor's Utah home during that incident were properly accounted for. While his daughter, Indy, was downstairs where the altercation happened, he emphasised that his son, Ocean, was also in the house. He says:
"I haven't been able to look at the police report yet, and I submitted a request for that... but to me, looking at the charges, it looks like they're missing the account for my son, [who] is in the home as well. Do they typically charge two accounts if there's another child in the home?"
Tate's one particular claim has raised eyebrows about the incident. He alleges that Taylor’s mother, Liann May, may have been “coaching” their daughter, Indy, on what to say about the incident. For some context, after the cops arrived at Taylor's house that night, she was in an "intoxicated" state and was unstable. The reality star's parents were called to pick up the kids. For those unaware, Taylor and Tate share two children, Indy May and Ocean, who are now primarily in Tate's custody.
When Tate spoke to the police, he hinted that Taylor's family may try to "gatekeep a little bit with all this," urging that the authorities contact him directly instead of going to Liann. There were evident concerns in his query, suggesting that the narrative surrounding the incident was being shaped in Taylor's favour. He says:
"I know that her family was involved, like they've picked up the kids and stuff, and I know that they care about her and stuff, and so I can imagine that they're gonna, you know, gatekeep a little bit with all this. I just wanna make sure that all of it was recorded."

The audio ties back to the 2023 altercation between Taylor Frankie Paul and Dakota Mortensen, during which a barstool was thrown, allegedly even striking a child. In bodycam footage, showing a discussion with Mortensen, a cop can be heard approaching the officer, saying one of the children "just puked", and Mortensen also grows visibly concerned about the kids.

With video evidence of Taylor throwing barstools at Mortensen, she was charged with aggravated assault. She was arrested, even though Dakota urged the cops to take him instead, claiming that she was struggling and just needed help. Additional domestic violence investigations have since followed. The controversy also had major career repercussions, including the cancellation of her planned appearance on The Bachelorette.
While Taylor has previously pushed back against certain narratives, sources close to her have claimed that some footage and accounts lack context.
