Tatiana Schlossberg, JFK's Granddaughter, Passed Away At 35, After Battling A Rare Form Of Cancer

JFK's granddaughter Tatiana Schlossberg passed away at the age of 35, after she revealed being diagnosed with a rare form of acute myeloid leukemia in November 2025. She said she had one year to live.

Tatiana Schlossberg, JFK's Granddaughter, Passed Away At 35, After Battling A Rare Form Of Cancer

Former US president John F. Kennedy's granddaughter and environmental journalist, Tatiana Schlossberg, passed away at the age of 35. It was only a month ago, when she revealed being diagnosed with the rare form of aggressive cancer, acute myeloid leukemia. Tatiana Schlossberg opened up about her terminal cancer and shared that she had only one year to live.

The late environmental journalist also revealed that it was after she gave birth to her second child that doctors found out that she had an imbalance in her white blood cells, eventually leading to her cancer diagnosis. She is survived by her husband, George Moran, and their two children.

Tatiana Schlossberg, daughter of designer Edwin Schlossberg and diplomat Caroline Kennedy, passed away on December 30, 2025. The news was confirmed through a statement from the JFK Library Foundation, on behalf of the late author and the journalist's extended family. On social media, a statement was released announcing that Tatiana Schlossberg bid farewell to the world on December 30, 2025. The statement could be read as:

"Our beautiful Tatiana passed away this morning. She will always be in our hearts."

Tatiana Schlossberg opened up about her terminal cancer diagnosis

It was in November 2025, when in a New Yorker Essay, Tatiana Schlossberg bared her heart out about her cancer diagnosis. She shared that she delivered her second child in May 2024, and soon after that, doctors noticed a strange imbalance in her blood cells. Tatiana's blood cells were 100 to 31,000 per microliter, which should have been 4 to 11,000 per microliter as normal.

Tatiana was later informed that it could be a rare form of leukemia, which she couldn't believe, but it later turned out to be real. She was diagnosed with terminal cancer, with a rare mutation called Inversion 3. AML, known as acute myeloid leukemia, is a rare form of cancer that affects a person's bone marrow and blood, and can happen when certain genes and chromosomes mutate. It generally happens to those aged 60, but it can also happen to children and adults, and if not treated, it can become life-threatening.

In Tatiana's case, she was diagnosed soon after giving birth to her second child, and her treatment began afterwards. During the CAR-T-cell therapy, she was told that she might have only a year to live. In her essay, Tatiana talked about her family and her husband's unwavering support during her battle with this rare form of leukemia. She shared that her husband would sleep on the hospital floors, while her sister used to donate stem cells for her treatment.

Tatiana Schlossberg married her college sweetheart, George Moran, a physician. The duo tied the knot in September 2017 in Martha's Vineyard, Mass. The couple welcomed their first child, a baby boy, in 2022. In 2024, their family was complete when they welcomed their daughter. In her essay titled A Battle With My Blood, Tatiana Schlossberg expressed her hurt that, while her son could remember a few glimpses of her, her daughter would totally forget her as she would grow up. Expressing that she felt cheated that she wouldn't be able to spend the rest of her life with her husband, Tatiana said:

"I know that not everyone can be married to a doctor, but, if you can, it’s a very good idea. He is perfect, and I feel so cheated and so sad that I don’t get to keep living the wonderful life I had with this kind, funny, handsome genius I managed to find."
