Emraan Hashmi’s latest web series, Taskaree: The Smuggler’s Web, is currently leading the headlines after it was released on Netflix on January 14, 2026. Apart from Emraan Hashmi, the show stars, Sharad Kelkar, Amruta Khanvilkar, Zoya Afroz, Nandish Sandhu and Anurag Sinha in important roles. The series opened to positive reviews and featured many twists and turns. By the time the show reaches its final episode, everything changes (spoiler alert!).
The series begins with the onboard of an honest senior officer, ‘Prakash’, who pledges to end international smuggling from Mumbai airport. To get the task done, he appoints a team of three brilliant officers known for their honesty. The three officers in question are ‘Arjun Meena’ (Emraan Hashmi), ‘Ravi Gujjar’ (Nandish Singh Sandhu) and 'Mithali Kamath' (Amruta Khanvilkar).

During the task, Emraan and his team realise that ‘Baba Chaudhary’, played by Sharad Kelkar, is the man who runs the biggest drug syndicate. Emraan directly comes in the crosshairs of 'Baba', stopping the shipments. He, with the help of his team, begins to dismantle Baba’s syndicate one by one.

'Baba', on the other hand, uses his power, manipulation and bribery to break the officers. However, when his strategies fail, he starts threatening the officers and their families. Tables turn when officer, ‘Ravi Gujjar’ (Nandish Singh Sandhu) intercepts a smuggling attempt and gets murdered. Ravi’s death becomes the turning point of the series, pushing Emraan to avenge his death.

As the series gains momentum, we get to know that ‘Prakash’, who was shown as the honest officer in the series and was leading the team, strikes a deal with ‘Baba’ in Bangkok. 'Prakash' secures a percentage of the smuggling profits in exchange for facilitating Baba’s shipments. Everything that he has done to date has been to win everyone’s trust. Not just his team, 'Prakash' also managed to grab Baba’s attention, so he could demand whatever he wanted.

In the final act, a massive consignment of gold is planned to pass through the airport as 'Baba Choudhary' plans to transport two tons of gold in 40 coffins. However, when Emraan goes through the consignments, he realises that there is nothing there. Confused by the information he received from his informant, Emraan realises that the original shipment has been manipulated. He realises that the gold consignment has been rerouted through other channels, a move orchestrated by 'Prakash'.

Emraan realises the internal betrayal and rushes to stop the consignment. He discovers that the gold bars were concealed within the furniture. Emraan confronts the senior officer, 'Prakash' and highlights the importance of corruption-free operations within the system. On the other hand, the police raid Choudhary’s residence in Al Dera, guided by Priya. Emraan thanks 'Priya' (Zoya Afroz), for helping him with the task and his entire team for being honest.
Taking to X, social media users heaped praises on Emraan Hashmi's film. One user commented, "One of the solid written class show in recent Times!
