Tamil actress, Shalini has recently created a stir on social media with her unconventional divorce photoshoot, which went viral in no time. The actress broke societal norms and celebrated her independence by sharing a series of stunning photos after divorcing her husband. However, it did not go well with a section of netizens, who claimed that the photoshoot was not appropriate and she shouldn't have shared it on social media. On the other hand, some people lauded her creativity and praised her. Now, Shalini has finally broken her silence about the viral divorce photoshoot.
Taking to her IG handle, Shalini opened up about her unconventional photoshoot and thanked everyone for taking an interest in it. Her viral photoshoot has undeniably made her an overnight star, but the actress mentioned that she is not ready to give interviews. Revealing the reason for her shoot, she shared that she wanted to empower the women who have been facing troubles in their married life. Her note can be read as:
"Thank you for your interest in my recent photoshoot. I want to clarify that I am not ready for any interviews at this time. The photoshoot was not for publicity but rather to send a message to the fellow women who may be in a similar situation. I wanted to use my voice to empower those who may feel voiceless. Thank you for understanding."

Further in her note, Shalini shared that she has also been criticised for her action and mentioned that people judge her without even knowing the struggles and challenges she faced. However, she thanked her supporters and revealed that she would love to help women in need through her story. She added:
"Also, I want to take a moment and thank everyone who supported my photoshoot and the reason behind it. While there have been some who have criticized my action, I understand that unless someone has walked in my shoes, they may not fully understand the struggles and challenges I may have faced. My hope is that through sharing my story, I may help other women who may be experiencing similar situations. Thank you again for your support."
For those who have been living under a rock, Shalini's divorce photo shoot took the internet by storm. She shared a series of photos on her social media handle and announced that she and her husband decided to part ways. Dressed in a bright red-hued V-neck gown, the actress looked pretty as she posed for the lens. Her outfit featured a risque thigh-high slit and cape-like off-shoulder sleeves. In one of the pictures, she was seen happily posing with a banner that had 'divorce' written on it. The next one showed her tearing apart a photo from her wedding day, while in the third one, the actress was seen holding a signboard with a note, which can be read as:
"I got 99 problems and husband ain't one."

As per a report in The Times Of India, Shalini got married to her husband, Riaz, in July 2020. The much-in-love couple lived a blissful life together and was blessed with a daughter. However, later troubles arose between the duo, and they ended up parting ways. The report also stated that the actress accused her husband of mental and physical abuse, before finally taking a divorce from him.
