'Refused To Talk To Me..' Tahira Shares Parents Were Upset As She Posted Bald Pic Amid Cancer Battle

Tahira Kashyap, a famous filmmaker, writer, producer, and Ayushmann Khurrana's wife was diagnosed with cancer back in 2018. Since the time, she was diagnosed with cancer, she has been vocal about the same. Tahira fought a hard battle with cancer, and in 2020, she declared herself to be cancer-free. Tahira's breast cancer treatment was completed in 2019. She would often share photos to speak her heart out about her battle with cancer and to spread awareness. In a recent interview, Tahira shared how her parents were left upset about her sharing bald photos during her cancer battle.

In a recent interview with Filmfare, Tahira Kashyap shared that when she posted her bald photos on her social media handle, her parents were left upset with her. So much so that they even refused to talk to Tahira and asked her how she could even post such photos while forcing her to take the snapshots down. Tahira said that she straightaway refused to follow the same and let them know that she was celebrating this, which left her parents to question if she had lost it as they were not sure about how physical illness could be celebrated. Tahira can be quoted as saying:

"My parents got really upset with me when I put my bald picture of myself (after the cancer diagnosis). A bald look for a woman is synonymous for a disaster somehow, so they refused to talk to me and were forcing me to take it down. But I said, ‘I am not doing that. I am celebrating right now, which you need to understand.’ They actually thought I have lost it. They were like how can you celebrate physical illness?”

Going forward in the interview, Tahira Kashyap shared that she didn't know how to make her parents talk to her. She ended up video-calling her mother to show her how she looked. She mentioned that she was even wearing goggles and told her mom that she was happy and this was how she looked, which she loved. Stating that her parents were still clueless about what made her happy, Tahira revealed:

"I didn’t know how to make my parents speak to me, so I video-called my mother and showed myself to her. I said, ‘Look at me, this is how I look right now and I am loving it.’ I was also wearing goggles and she sort of laughed and smiled. Then I told her this is how life is: I am happy, and you need to be happy for me. They were still clueless about ‘feeling happy’."

Back in 2018, Tahira Kashyap revealed being diagnosed with DCIS (Ductal Carcinoma In Situ) in her right breast. Talking about the same, in an interview with the IANS, Tahira shared that no one from her close environment judged her, but she was actually asked by her close acquaintances to keep the diagnosis hidden, which initially she thought would be the right thing to do.

Tahira further stated that when she talked to her doctor, she got to know how many women, despite suffering from cancer, don't opt for the right way to deal with it for the stigma, taboo, and humiliation associated with the society. Tahira added that her goal was to spread awareness for all those people who are suffering from the same and prove that the disease is no way bigger than any individual.
