Taha Shah Badussha has rightfully secured the position of being the national crush after his stellar performance in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s hit series, Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar. With his pleasing smile, charismatic personality, bold voice and priceless expressions, Taha has swooned millions of audiences in no time. However, it hadn’t been a bed of roses for the actor to reach such a pedestal in his career at the moment, and he recently opened up about the same.
In a recent interaction with Social Kandura, Taha Shah Badussha remembered the initial years of his career, when, after lots of hard work and effort, he was able to bag the scope of auditioning for a project helmed by Karan Johar’s Dharma Production. The actor stated that he was called by the casting director, Shanoo Sharma to come and audition along with a girl, so that he gets an opportunity to meet Karan himself. Taha narrated:

“After five or six months of (trying to get an audition in Mumbai), Shanoo Sharma called me. She said, ‘Karan Johar wants to test this girl, but you can come and test with her, and he might see you’. So, I’m like, ‘I’ll take that opportunity, why not?'”

Sharing more about that once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that had come to his way, Taha stated that he was so excited to meet Karan Johar through the audition round that he duly completed all his previous work commitments. However, things took a bad turn when, at the very last minute, while he was right under the building where the audition was supposed to take place, Taha was informed that Karan Johar didn’t want to see him anymore. In his words:
“I finished a prior shoot commitment, and I was under their building, when I get a call from Shanoo. And she’s like, ‘I’m so sorry Taha, but Karan doesn’t want to see you.’ She asked me where I was, and I told her that I was far away and that’s fine. I went back in an auto, I was really heartbroken, because they said he didn’t want to see me at all.”
Earlier, during a conversation with The Week, Taha Shah Badussha had remembered another anecdote concerning his attempt to reach out to the filmmaker, Karan Johar. The actor mentioned how he ended up running behind the former’s car and even hitting it, so as to get his number. In his words:
“I ran after Karan Johar sir’s car and I hit his car telling him that I just got a film. ‘I want to show it to you, please give me your number’. He was very kind to give me his number and asked me if I was okay. He offered me some water, and that’s how I met him for the first time. Later, I went to his office and got the audition for Gippi.”

Previously, in an interaction with Galatta India, Taha Shah Badussha revealed that he was supposed to be a part of the film, Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani. He mentioned that he was chosen first for the character of ‘Avi’ in the film, that was later essayed by Aditya Roy Kapur.
