The dance world is mourning the loss of a popular star, So You Think You Can Dance Season 4 winner, Joshua Allen. The dancer tragically died at the age of 36, leaving his friends, family, and fans in shock. According to TMZ, Joshua had died on September 30, 2025, leaving fellow dancers heartbroken. However, while confirming his demise, Joshua's family did not reveal the cause of his death, leaving fans wondering. But we have finally come to know about the tragic reason.

How did Joshua Allen die?

The same outlet confirmed that Joshua Allen was struck and killed by a train in Fort Worth, Texas. Even the Fort Worth Police Department confirmed that they received a call about a person being hit by a train. The dance show winner was soon rushed to a nearby hospital. But he passed away shortly. Furthermore, authorities stated that the cause and details of the incident are still under investigation. However, no further details have been released about the circumstances leading up to the tragedy.

Earlier, Joshua Allen's family confirmed his death. They remembered him not only as a talented performer but also as a man of faith and integrity. At the same time, they described the SYTYCD winner as someone who loved family gatherings and always wanted his loved ones to come together. His close friend, Emmanuel Hurd, shared similar sentiments, calling Joshua Allen "a very honest, real person." Moreover, a close family member of Joshua recalled Joshua and told the outlet:

"One of the last things he said was to keep God first at all times. You have to be real with yourself before you can be real with anybody else."

Who is Joshua Allen?

Joshua Allen rose to fame in 2008 when he competed on Season 4 of So You Think You Can Dance. Fans admired him for his raw energy and versatility and went on to win over fan-favorite Stephen "tWitch" Boss in the finale. Even the latter became one of the show's most iconic figures before his own tragic death in 2022. Joshua was known for his contemporary dance moves and edgy street style. His win on the show made him one of the youngest champions in the series' history. After his win on So You Think You Can Dance, Joshua built a career in the entertainment field and appeared in Step Up 3D, the Footloose remake, and some episodes of American Horror Story.

Joshua was praised for his blend of energy and refined dance moves. But he had once admitted that he was not a formally trained dancer. During an interview with Entertainment Weekly after his win, Joshua recalled that he took ballet and modern classes to prepare for the competition.
