The legacy Irrfan Khan has left behind is unmatched because he wasn’t just an actor but a humble soul, who left us a little too early. The Angrezi Medium actor, Irrfan Khan was admitted to Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital for colon infection on April 28, 2020, and on the morning of April 29, 2020, he breathed his last. He was diagnosed with a neuroendocrine tumour in 2018 and despite being sick, he was full of life.

Irrfan Khan’s death had left his family with an unbearable void and his wife, Sutapa Sikdar craves for him even now. On Valentine’s Day 2021, Sutapa had shared a picture of her late husband, Irrfan’s tombstone with a heartfelt caption. She had written, "Nothing is forever except memories #farmhouse #missingyou." The short line on his tombstone could be read as “‘We live because you reside in our soul.' - Irrfan Forever."
A few hours back, Sutapa Sikdar shared a video of her late husband, Irrfan Khan, sitting in his makeup van on her IG handle. She shared that while everyone was busy playing cards, he was busy reading his book, even when he was sick. Sharing a three-year-old video, she wrote, “Three years ago with irrfan's team in London shooting. he wasn't well this particular day but who can tell..hated playing cards but tirelessly witnessed reading his book and saw us playing even in the makeup van.i crave for your indulgences Irrfan #shootingwaits #AngreziMedium #wivesenjoying #imissyou.”
On Irrfan Khan’s first death anniversary, Sutapa Sikdar had penned a long note, remembering him on her social media handle. She had shared a few lines by Irrfan's favourite poet, ""People living deeply have no fear of death”… Anaïs Nin your favourite poet Irrfan. Last year tonight me and my friends sang songs for you, all your favorite songs.”

She had recalled the last night she had spent with Irrfan in the hospital and had added, “The nurses were looking at us strangely as they were used to religious chants in critical times but I had overdone that for you irrfan morning evening and night for two years and since they told me it was time I wanted you to go with memories you loved …so we sang songs….next day you left for the next station I hope you knew where to get down without me. 363 days eight thousand seven hundred and twelve hours..when each second is counted. how exactly does one swim this huge ocean of time. The clock had stopped."
Talking about Irrfan Khan's keen interest in numbers, she had added, "At 11.11 on 29th april for me.… irrfan you had a keen interest in mystery of numbers.. and funny you had three 11’s on your final day. some say actually many say this is a very mystical number 11/11/11. How does one walk ahead the pandemic just adds to the anxiety, fear and pain.”
Sutapa had then recalled how she had gone numb, when after Irrfan’s name she had to change her signature. She had added, “The days went by with umpteen responsibilities some extremely new ones like signature galore for changing of name. My fingers kept stopping on that how could I just take his name away and make it sutapa, I was unable to sign took a day off and the name game played on my mind. Like a film in a projector."
