Unable to stop praising his once muse and the film’s cast, a BollywoodLife report quoted Sushant saying, “It looks great and if I am not wrong it is tracking really well. I have known Ankita for a long time and she is a brilliant, effortless actor. I hope the film does justice to her capabilities and does well for everyone involved.”
On December 13, 2018, Ankita had revealed her first look from her debut Bollywood film, Manikarnika, captioning the picture as, “And so it begins!!! #jhalkaribai #manikarnika.” Seeing the same, her ex-boyfriend, Sushant Singh Rajput immediately posted a heartfelt comment on the same which could be read as, “@lokhandeankita it looks absolutely great Ankita. Speaking about their frequent exchange of conversation on Instagram, it had reinstalled a slight hope in the heart of all Sushant and Ankita fans (you know about what!). But then, shattering all such hopes the estranged couple shared during the Star Screen Awards 2018, “Mujhe kaafi accha laga, jo dil se aaya, bada hi accha laga toh congratulations bolna chahta tha.” When Sushant was asked if he had congratulated Ankita personally, he replied, “Main jiss tarike se digital platform pe hota hoon, vo real hi hota hoon. Maine jo wahan keh diya vo movie ke liye nahi tha but unke liye bhi tha and unnko bhi accha laga. Vo real hi talk tha uske baad dusre conversation ki zaroorat nahi thi.” When asked if we can expect any budding relationship once again, the Kedarnath star blatantly replied, “Nahi aur kuch samjhne ki zaroorat nahi hai.” Ankita, however, maintained a ‘no comments’ stance.
In an interview with DNA, Ankita spoke about breakup with Sushant and life thereafter, “Back then, I was trying to be a homemaker and doing a very big job. When I was working, I was satisfied; when I wasn’t, I was still happy. I’m okay with whatever I do. Aisa kabhi nahin tha ki mujhe yeh chahiye ya woh chahiye. I decided to take a break because I was happy with that then. It was not just for myself. I guess, the Universe wanted me to get back professionally, which is why I’m here now. I won’t say the break-up affected my profession, though. Love and work are two separate things. You need to balance them and I’ll say I wasn’t able to do that”.
In an interview with Anupama Chopra, Sushant spoke, “It is very important to give time to a relationship. It can sustain if there are no expectations. When you are in love you care about your partner, and wish for good memories with him or her. Therefore time is like an investment in any relationship." He had further added, “We run after a psychological security which will never last long. Most of the actors only want to speak about themselves and have become self-obsessed. They want to be heard only. Today, people no longer have listening power.” (Also Read: Shibani Dandekar's Birthday Wish For Boyfriend Farhan Akhtar Speaks Volumes About Their Love)
