One of the most handsome actors of Bollywood, Dharmendra, bid adieu to the world on November 24, 2025, leaving behind his grieving family, friends, and fans. With films like Shalimar, Azaad, The Burning Train, Alibaba Aur 40 Chor, Ram Balram, Rajput, Badle Ki Aag, Ghazab, Baghavat, Samraat, Naukar Biwi, Qayamat, Insaniyat Ke Dushman, and many others, Dharmendra became one of the most loved actors in Hindi cinema.
Dharmendra was the most charming actor in Bollywood, inspiring many young stars. His sons, Bobby Deol and Sunny Deol, followed in his footsteps, entering films and becoming successful actors. Sunny and Bobby considered their father their biggest support system and often praised him.

In 2007, Dharmendra was bestowed with the Lifetime Achievement Award by IIFA. During the award ceremony, Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol took the stage with their papa, Dharmendra, and spoke about him. Standing proudly beside his father, an emotional Sunny said, “Mere papa se badhkar kuch aur nahi hai.” On the other hand, Bobby Deol was seen teary-eyed as he struggled to speak about his papa. Gathering words, Bobby said:
“Mai aaj yahaan hoon apne papa ki wajah se. He is the best.”

Dharmendra has shared the big screen with his sons, Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol, in several films, including the family favourites Apne and Yamla Pagla Deewana. In a recent interview, the infamous Gadar director, Anil Sharma, who has worked with the legendary actor and 'He-Man' of Bollywood, Dharmendra, on numerous occasions in the 1980s, recalled an anecdote from the shoot of Apne. Anil shared that during the shoot, the veteran actor would pull his sons' legs, making them awkward with his jokes.

In an interview with Pinkvilla, Sunny Deol opened up about his dad, Dharmendra, and mentioned that he was the only actor to succeed in all genres of cinema. Elaborating on the same, the doting son added:

“He is the only actor to succeed in all genres of cinema and he has never shied away from exploring different roles. Be it Satyakam, Chupke Chupke, Sholay, Pratigya, Phool Aur Phattar or Anupama – he has done it all. I wish I was an active actor in his era.”
Dharmendra always believed in working till his last breath, and he did it. Despite his age, Dharmendra never stopped working. In 2023, Dharmendra was seen in Karan Johar's movie, Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani. In the movie, 87-year-old Dharmendra was paired opposite Shabama Azmi. The duo shared a lip-lock moment on-screen. He was also seen in Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya, starring Shahid Kapoor and Kriti Sanon. The veteran actor’s last appearance was in Ikkis, which is set to release on December 25, 2025.
