Actor, Govinda ruled the hearts of fangirls in the '80s and '90s with his boyish good looks, acting skills, and groovy moves. However, his wife, Sunita Ahuja, ultimately stole his own. Sunita, who likes to stay away from the limelight for the most part, recently opened up about the relationship she shares with her husband. Interestingly, she also revealed that her father was not supportive of their union and chose not to attend the couple's wedding.
Sunita Ahuja recently appeared for a candid chat with Hauterrfly, during which she candidly discussed her bond with her husband of nearly 40 years , Govinda. Sunita, who was just 18 when she tied the knot with Govinda, revealed that she felt like she was still a child when she had her daughter, Tina Ahuja. For the uninitiated, Tina was born nearly a year after the couple's marriage when Sunita was only 19. She can be quoted as saying:
"When I got married to Govinda, he had a big family. I got married when I was just 18. I was 19 when Tina was born so I was still a child when I had the baby."
Further in the conversation, Sunita Ahuja revealed that soon after they got hitched, Govinda made it clear that his mother would be the head of the household as long as she was alive. The actor added that Sunita could do as she pleased once his mother was no more. The latter admitted that she accepted the conditions in a heartbeat because she was 'too in love with her husband' at that time.
However, after years of living under her mother-in-law's shadow, Sunita felt compelled to follow the traditions she had set in place even after she died. Talking about having to adjust to Govinda's nephews and nieces living in the same house as them, Sunita said:
"Then I got used to be other kids (Krushna, Vinay) being in the house. They were all very little. I am very fond of kids. My heart does not allow me to say that Govinda's mom is not there, let me throw everyone out. I thought if you perform good deeds, god will watch, even if the kids don't."
Sunita's comment about 'good deeds' may be in reference to her public feud with Govinda's nephew, Krushna and his wife, Kashmera. The legendary actor was also at odds with the duo for years, but he seemingly buried the hatchet not too long ago. Sunita, however, doesn't seem keen on letting the past go. The uncle-nephew feud allegedly started over a joke Krushna made about keeping Govinda as his 'mama,' which the latter found tasteless. In the moment, Sunita had pacified him by pointing out that Krushna was just cracking jokes to earn a living and do his job. However, she later got provoked when Krushna's wife, Kashmera made a cryptic tweet about 'people who dance for money.' The spat went on for seven years before Govinda finally ended it in 2023.

Sunita Ahuja also discussed the many lifestyle adjustments she made after marrying Govinda. She revealed that she had been brought up in a different world than the actor. Not only that, Sunita's father hadn't approved of their union. In fact, he even refused to attend their wedding. Sunita told Hauterrfly:
"Just because I used to love my husband Govinda a lot, I put up with everything. My mom used to wear hot pants, lived in Pali Hill, came from a very rich background. My dad was not that financially strong. He was struggling From Virar it was a very Bollywood story where he didn't even attend the wedding. happy with the whole thing."
