From facing the camera for the first time to meeting his then-future son-in-law, KL Rahul, Suniel revealed it all. In his words:
“I was petrified on my first day on a film set, and almost never showed up. 30 years later I still felt nervous on my first day of filming with the great Rajinikanth Sir. At home, I felt jittery when Athiya was bringing Rahul over to meet us as a family for the first time.”

In one of his previous conversations with Nikhil Kamath, Suniel Shetty had revealed the reason behind never sending his children, Athiya and Ahan to schools in India. He expressed how he did not want his kids to receive any special privilege for being the wards of a celebrity and instead lead a normal upbringing. Moreover, he also highlighted how he did not want them to face criticism like him, during their early years.
In the same interview, Suniel also expressed his views about both his children, Athiya and Ahan, entering the showbiz world. He revealed he did not force them in the first place, and in fact, when it came to his daughter, it was she who told him her desire to join films. Moreover, he added how he had warned Athiya of the failures that might come in this profession. In his words:
“It’s their decision. As a matter of fact, we went to Atlanta for Athiya, she saw the college, everything done, loved it, got admission. On our way back, she told me at the airport ‘You know papa, I am not really happy doing this.’ I asked ‘What do you want to do?’ She said ‘I want to be in the business of films and entertainment. I said ‘Baby, it’s a lovely place, but will you be able to accept failure?’ because that is very stressful. That Friday kills me every time and it’s the anxiety that kills me, and nothing else."
