Sumona Chakravarti is one of the first names that comes to our mind when we speak about wholesome entertainers in the showbiz world. She started off her journey with the hit daily soap, Bade Achhe Lagte Hain, which gave her widespread fame and household recognition. However, it was her perfect comic timing and live-show skills in Comedy Nights With Kapil and The Kapil Sharma Show that pivoted her name as a true-blue entertainer. For the unversed, she essayed the role of comedian, Kapil Sharma’s on-screen wife in both the comedy talk shows.
Kapil Sharma’s latest show on Netflix, The Great Indian Kapil Show has been wavering humongous fame and popularity with every passing day. The comedian, whose show is now aired over 190 countries, continues to entertain everyone with his endless fun banter, along with other artists, like Sunil Grover, Kiku Sharda, Krushna Abhishek, Rajiv Thakur and Archana Puran Singh. However, the one person whom fans miss a lot is certainly Sumona Chakravarti, who had been a part of the show's franchise since 2013. And now, in an interaction with PTI, Sumona explained the reason behind her absence and said:
“I don’t have an answer to this. The show that I was part of, which was on another channel, ended last year in July. Since then, I’ve been on my own journey, doing my own things, networking, and meeting people.”

Moving forth in the conversation, Sumona Chakravarti admitted the widespread fame and recognition she continues to receive even today, for the previous performances she has delivered both in the serial and the comedy talk show. However, she emphasised that as an artist, she wishes to explore newer horizons and upskill her versatility. In her words:
“I know fans have missed me, I’ve seen their messages. I meet people everywhere, the moment you step out of the house, your neighbours tell. That is exactly what motivates you to do something different. When I was in London last year, I had so many Indians telling me that they liked me in Bade Achhe Lagte Hain. It’s really nice to see the love coming whether it’s for Bade Achhe… or Comedy Nights…. It’s great and you know you are doing something right. Nobody expected me to do well in comedy but I did it.”
Fast forward to now, Sumona is all geared up to flaunt her skills and become a part of the action-based reality show, Khatron Ke Khiladi 14. She remarked being approached for the show a couple of times earlier, but back then, she didn’t find a suitable reason to put herself in that show, despite her mother having tried to convince her for it. However, Sumona now feels confident enough to become a part of it. She explained:
“Every year she would be like, ‘Why don’t you do this show?’ I would be like, ‘Why you want me to be in an uncomfortable situation?’ I know there’s a certain image that has been created in people’s minds because of my body of work, so I thought Khatron Ke Khiladi is a great platform, where I get to do things that I would really like to do, like going on adventures. It’s also a platform that will present my real self, how I deal with situations.”

The actress recalled while she didn’t get an opportunity to share the frame with the actors, nevertheless, she is happy to have been a pivotal part of the plot, and having to gain an enormous amount of experience.
