Sharing the pictures, Sumona penned a long note and revealed some of the women in her life often ask her to colour her grey hair. The diva mentioned made a stark contrast about how men and women react to ageing and stated that her male friend complements her grey hairs. Questioning if she is expected to look perfect because she is an actor, Sumona said:
"Greys! So every now and then i will have some woman tell me that I should colour my greys and cover it. "it's showing" they say. Funnily every male friend of mine has specially complimented me about my greys saying how beautiful it makes me look. So, what is it with women and aging that society cannot accept? On the other hand a MAN with a salt and pepper look is sexy, desirable, hot, blah blah. So is it because I'm an actor that i need to constantly keep up with what's happening in fashion/society?"
Further, in her note, Sumona mentioned that as an actor, she changes her look to fit the character's requirements, but on a personal level, she has been learning to love her body. Mentioning how she was called a "flat screen" in her 20s for being skinny, the actress urged the ladies to do what they wanted to do with their bodies without caring about society. And excerpt of her note can be read as:
"But as an individual, on a very personal level I'm learning to embrace and love body more n more with each passing year. I used to be as thin as a stick in my 20s; used to be called a flat screen because well i was flat. Now at 35-the body is very very different. Thanks to hormone upheavals and endometriosis, i got curvy. So...Dear girls/ladies/women - life is going to throw enough challenges and pressures your way. So let's not burden ourselves or each other with unnecessary judgements and the pressure of maintaining beauty standards."
