Pilot Sumit Kapur's Daughter, Sanya, Pens Emotional Note After Baramati Plane Crash, 'A Bad Dream..'

The tragic Baramati plane crash in Maharashtra, which claimed the lives of Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, his security officer, Vidip Jadhav, First Officer Captain, Shambhavi Pathak and flight attendant Pinky Mali, along with Captain Sumit Kapur has left the entire nation shocked. However, recently, the daughter of Sumit Kapur, Sanya Kapur Wadhwa penned an emotional note for her father on her social media handle.

Moments after the tragic plane crash of Baramati, Captain Sumit Kapur’s daughter, Sanya Kapur Wadhwa took to her Instagram handle to pen a long emotional note for her father. In her note, she called the incident a bad dream and wished to wake up from it soon. She further mentioned that she wishes to wrap her head around him and wants him to call her ‘Jhansi Ki Rani’. A part of her note can be read as:

"I don't even know, why I am writing this but I praying that you magically read this Dada. It looks a bad dream, I been wanting to wake up from. I am still trying to wrap my head around this and hoping you will call and say aur kaha hai meri Jhasi ki Rani. I love you and I always will be a papa ki pari. I just want this nightmare to end and call and speak to you."

Sanya Kapur Wadhwa further stated that her father was born to rule the skies and he took his last breath while doing what he loved the most. Sanya also described late Captain Sumit Kapur the ‘best father’, ‘a great pilot’ and the ‘sweetest human being’. She also mentioned that she loves her father and later concluded the emotional tribute by calling her Sumit Kapur’s Jhansi Ki Rani. Her note said:

"Like I said Born to Rule the skies and breathed your last while doing what you loved. Best Father, Greatest Aviator (Pilot) and sweetest Human Being. Capt. Sumit Kapur Gone to Soon. I Love you Dada. I will always be your brat. Your Jhasi Ki Rani."

Who was Captain Sumit Kapur?

Captain Sumit Kapur was an experienced business jet pilot with an experience of over 16,000 hours. Reportedly, he had completed his pilot training, obtained the required licences, and passed all checks to fly business jets. Over the years, he had even worked with Sahara Airlines and Jet Airways. If reports are to be believed, he had a calm nature, who followed all rules and was a pro at managing flights in difficult situations. According to a report by Hindustan Times, Captain Sumit Kapur was married to wife, Cheena and the duo had two children- son, Shiv and daughter, Sanya.

For those who do not know, the Baramati plane crash happened on January 28, 2026, which took the lives of all five people onboard. The charter flight was from Mumbai to Ajit Pawar's hometown, Baramati. A moment before the crash, the flight was making its second attempt to land, when it lost balance and crashed, bursting into flames. An eyewitness recalled the incident and shared:

"I saw it with my eyes. This is really painful. When the aircraft descended, it seemed it would crash, and it did crash. It then exploded. There was a massive explosion."
