Suchitra Pillai is a talented actress and model in the industry. She rose to fame with her role as Saif Ali Khan’s possessive girlfriend in Dil Chahta Hai. Afterwards, she was also seen in many other films and television shows, including Fashion, Fitoor, Hip Hip Hurray, and Beintehaa. Now, she is all set to be seen in The Broken News 2, alongside Jaideep Ahlawat and Sonali Bendre.
Coming to her personal front, Suchita was married to Pawan Malik from 1991 to 1998. However, the reason behind their separation is not known. Many years after she separated from her first husband, she lost her heart to a Denmark-based environmental engineer, Lars Kjeldsen while playing Jenga at a friend’s house party in Mumbai. Following this, they bumped again into each other on New Year’s Eve in Sri Lanka and hit off instantly. Soon, Suchitra and Lars started dating and eventually got married on May 20, 2005, in a Dutch castle in Denmark. In 2008, the couple welcomed a beautiful little daughter and named her Annika.

For the unversed, much ahead of Suchitra's marriage with her now-husband, Lars Kjeldsen, he was in a relationship with Preity Zinta for quite some time. During the dating period between Lars and Preity, the duo was also often spotted together. Thus, when Suchitra was in a relationship with Lars, many gossipmongers tagged her as a ‘boyfriend snatcher’. Now, in an interview with Siddharth Kannan, Suchitra opened up about the same and clarified that she was not the reason for their breakup. She said:
“No, that’s another story from somebody else. Preity and I were never friends, we were acquaintances because we had a common friend. But, yes, Lars Kjeldsen did date Preity Zinta for some time but that was the breakup he had before he met me and only this part is true. I didn’t come between them, they split up for a totally different reason.”
Further, in the same conversation, Suchitra revealed that many media portals came out with the same tagline all of a sudden. However, explaining the context of the same was not related to Lars Kjeldsen. Instead, Suchitra mentioned that at that time, she was dating Andrew Coyne and she was probably called by that name due to his relationship with model, Achala Sachdev fell apart. In Suchitra's words:
“The big news that happened, which was a big misunderstanding, it was not because of me. It happened at the time I came back from England, I was called a ‘boyfriend snatcher’ on the cover of several magazines. The headline read, ‘Suchitra Pillai is a boyfriend snatcher.’ It was because I started dating Andrew Coyne, who had started Star Television in India. This was the relationship in question, but it was not because of me that Andrew and his partner and model, Achala Sachdev fell apart. It is water under the bridge after many years and Archala and I have a laugh about it.”

Talking about Preity Zinta, she is currently tied the knot with the man of her dreams, Gene Goodenough on February 29, 2016, in a private ceremony in LA. On November 11, 2021, Preity and Gene welcomed their twins, a baby boy, Jai and a baby girl, Gia via surrogacy. Since then, Preity keeps sharing stunning glimpses from her life on her social media handles.
