#1. Anarkali

One of our all-time favourites are anarkali suits that work on almost all body types. In fact, we reckon that no wardrobe is ever complete without a super-gorgeous anarkali sitting in it! Make sure that before stepping out to buy one for yourself, you identify your body type. If you’re top-heavy, avoid embellishment on chest in the anarkali; if you’re bottom heavy then buy an anarkali which has relatively lesser amount of flare; and if you’re short then avoid buying a floor-length anarkali because you’ll drown in the weight of the fabric!

#2. Patiala

Remember Kareena in Gori Tere Pyaar Mein and Alia in Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania? The two rocked the Patiala look like no other heroine ever has! You too can ace this look on a haldi function, as these are the most comfortable and provide an ease of movement. Just make sure your kurti is short (sits somewhere mid-thigh or 2-3 inches above your knees) for the flares in your Patiala salwar to be seen! Don’t forget to pair them with your jhumkis and kohlapuri chappal or juttis!

#3. Angrakha

We love angrakhas for the quintessential royal look they lend to anyone who wears it. Those of you who are new to this style of suit, let us tell you that a traditional angrakha is a tunic with long sleeves and the front of the suit has a V-neck wrap which is tied to the side. The strings with which you can wrap the angrakha now have modern variations to it and you’ll see many with pom-poms tied to them!

#4. A-line

A-line kurtas are quite a rage these days. This style of suit reaches the ankle with flares gushing down from the waist. If you don’t want to go the traditional way of teaming this up with a churidar or a legging we’d say go for a jegging. Since the flare starts from around the waist, we recommend this suit type to apple and pear-shaped girls.

#5. Pallazzo

Did you see Deepika in Piku? We loved seeing her in the kurta-palazzo combination. It was chic, effortless and matched the character she played. If you are someone who is rather work-wise busy like Piku and have no time to go about hopping stores, just take a day out and buy a couple of palazzos in various fabrics and throng a matching kurta atop it. Voila! You’re ready to attend any number of functions now!

#6. Straight Pants

We highly recommend this hybrid suit because it is a paisa vasool investment and can be worn at workplace too. You can wear it with a well-fitted tunic and ace this charming and no nonsense look on an engagement. Make sure you have your matching heels and a clutch ready.

#7. Classic Churidar

This is the safest bet just in case you don’t want to be experimental with styling yourself for any of the functions. But, hey there’s no harm in it. It is the most classic looks of all times and looks phenomenal. We’re all guilty of owning at least 5 of these, aren’t we! You can slip into one of these suits for a dinner or puja. Wear a few bangles, put that bindi on your forehead and gloss those lips before heading out!

We’ve spoilt you for choices now so go on and wear your shopping shoes. You need to really hurry and raid the shops before the wedding season dawns upon you!
